Can I reheat some Spanish omelette for lunch tomorrow?

I made a really yummy Spanish omelette for dinner. But it was huge and I only ate half. If I let it cool could I bring it to work tomorrow and heat it for lunch? (I don't want to eat it cold)

It contains eggs, onion, red pepper, sliced chorizo, sliced baby potatoes, baby spinach and cheese (no wonder I could only eat half Blush )

Sounds delicious, and yes I would!

GrumpyHoonMain · 11/03/2020 19:12

It doesn’t need to be reheated. Just have it cold

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 11/03/2020 19:14

Might go a bit rubbery on re-heating, mind you?

Of course you can and as an aside you don't need to justify how much you did or didnt eat of it Smile

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/03/2020 19:17

Thank you 😊 no I'll definitely heat it as I don't like the idea of it being cold! But I'll reheat it gently so it hopefully won't dry out. That's lunch sorted for tomorrow so!

Yes, it will be nice cold though, try it!

LazyYogi · 11/03/2020 19:20

It's delicious cold in a sandwich btw!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/03/2020 19:25

I'll just take your word for it Wink

In Spain cafes make huge tortillas then leave them on the counter, cold, until someone asks for a slice.

Room temp it'll be delicious!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/03/2020 19:35

hmm well maybe room temp would be bearable, but I like the melty cheese in it!!

When I used to reheat omelettes at work I used to lay a damp piece of kitchen roll over it so it didn't go rubbery

Marshmello · 11/03/2020 21:45

Yes fine. Make sure it's piping hot. Or eat cold.

aurynne · 11/03/2020 22:26

Yes you can, but that's not a Spanish tortilla (signed, a Spaniard) Grin

Likethebattle · 12/03/2020 00:33

Yes, the supermarkets sells spanish omelettes to heat in the microwave.

Deianira · 12/03/2020 00:35

Yes. It'll be nicer heated in a pan gently than in a microwave if that's an option.

Tartyflette · 12/03/2020 00:45

In some Spanish bars and motorway service station cafés where they have large tortillas on the bar under glass covers they often heat your slice of tortilla in the microwave for a short time, just to warm it slightly.

We spent around six weeks in Spain this winter, the local specialty tortilla takeaway place did a whole one one that was was stuffed with peppers, chorizo, potatoes and cheese, it easily served four or five and we reheated the leftovers very successfully. Cost about 5 euros.

Can I reheat some Spanish omelette for lunch tomorrow?
RainbowMum11 · 12/03/2020 00:46

Yes, but also nice cold

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/03/2020 09:33

That looks yum @Tartyflette! yes, it's such a cheap dinner and so quick to make too.

Ok so I'll re-heat on low with a piece of damp kitchen roll on top.

Also I know it's not a legit spanish omelette but that's what we call it and you all knew what I meant Grin

I wonder how people get by on a day to day basis when they need advice on stuff like this

INeedNewShoes · 12/03/2020 10:03

I wonder how people get by when they're so fucking grumpy they feel the need to make snide remarks on a harmless thread like this.

I've enjoyed this Spanish omelette thread. A refreshing change from the dominant topic!

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 12/03/2020 10:11

A vote for having it cold in a crusty bread roll - tortilla bocadillo.
Delicious!

Whiffenpoofs · 12/03/2020 10:23

Woah @vikkimoog - what a misery you are.

KatherineJaneway · 12/03/2020 10:26

Ignore the misery guts op and enjoy your omelette.

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/03/2020 10:43

It’s absolutely fine to cook and later reheat anything, I think a lot of people get confused about this. What you shouldn’t do is reheat things and allow them to cool and then reheat them over and over, because the cycle of warming and cooling allows bacteria to grow (though I’ve been doing it for years and am still alive.) Think logically - any bacteria currently in your omelette would be there if you ate it cold, why would heating it up (and killing it) be bad?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/03/2020 13:32

I don't usually worry about reheating things, I just wasn't quite sure with eggs.

Still not had my lunch and now fit to drop with the hunger and all this talk of omelettes Grin

I shall enjoy, for sure...
