Your favourite adverts (or ones that have really stuck in your mind.)

I like the one with the little girl who gets the £ out of the trolley and skips along all happy, dad asks for the £ back and her little face drops. So sweet.

The FAST adverts really stick in my mind.

Road safety ads; Such and such knew her killer (with the family in the car) and the little girl who'd been run over and was slumped by a tree (if you'd been going at 20 I'd survive..)

I'm sure there was a fire service one also (around Christmas) that showed just how quickly the room went up in flames.

What are yours?

The McVities Digestives one where all the British Shorthair kittens come out of the packets. I liked it so much I got one myself a few years later. (Kitten not a packet of digestives)

Jaffa Cakes - full moon, half moon, total eclipse!

Lallybroch · 11/03/2020 18:56

The flake one from the '70s

TroysMammy · 11/03/2020 19:01

Specsavers in the vets. Phoebe the scruffy, dopey Persian cat at the end makes me chuckle every time.

ChanklyBore · 11/03/2020 19:08

@SinkGirl I’ve never seen that ad before, it is very powerful. It made me think of the Good Fight opening sequence. As perhaps i was supposed to? Was that a well known ad?

SinkGirl · 11/03/2020 19:21

Not particularly - it did well on the awards circuit and was widely praised but as its for a London radio station it wasn’t widely shown.

I just remember thinking it was so beautiful and wondering what would happen with each item and then being horrified. Haven’t seen another advert that’s had the same effect on me, even the big winners (the Cadbury’s Gorilla ad won the Grand Prix that year and I can’t stand the bloody thing).

CatBatCat · 11/03/2020 19:25

The Guinness horses one. Tick follows tock follows tick follows. Mostly because it payed the Left field tune.

VerbenaGirl · 11/03/2020 19:26

Smash instant mash
Milky Bar (kid)
Daddy or chips
The Bisto one with the family

ashtyler · 11/03/2020 19:35

The "je veux les bonbons" by durex 😂

ashtyler · 11/03/2020 19:37

And Daddy or Chips

Jennie1978 · 11/03/2020 19:47

Has anyone said ‘Shake and Vac?’ That really stands out from my childhood. Also ‘Mr Soft’ as soft man walking down the street bumping into a lamp post.

MontanaSky · 11/03/2020 20:22

Um Bongo (still know the words)
Cadburys Fruit and Nut with the singing raisins and nuts
Tetley Teabags

80s kid

StillDisappointed · 11/03/2020 21:07

Oh my god, some of these are a real blast from the past.

I refuse to believe the Nescafé one was in 1988!!!

Nick Kamen in the laundrette for nostalgic reasons.

Clawdy · 11/03/2020 21:44

Nick Kamen for many reasons!

Carrieonhappy · 11/03/2020 21:46

VivienLeighshandbag i just recently realised that the woman from that advert is miranda hart. X

BecauseReasons · 11/03/2020 21:51

'I like the rings. And the gold bears.'
'It looks like it's a ring when they go swimming, so they don't drown!'
'Then look, you can make a big, big SANDWICH!'

Kids and grown-ups love it so, the happy world of Haribo.

YorkieTheRabbit · 11/03/2020 22:14

AA very nice man Grin
Dancing Guinness man
One for mushrooms, think it was a Tesco advert. It had a gnome sat on a toadstool, it said not mushroom in here, then panned out to a view of hundreds of gnomes on toadstools, all giggling Grin

SunshineCake · 11/03/2020 22:17

The amazon one where the baby is scared of the dog but loves her cuddly lion. The next day the dog is wearing a lion mane and the baby smiles.

HindsightIs2020 · 11/03/2020 22:18

I love the Birds Eye frozen vegetable adverts.

At are veggies, we are healthy, yes you know it's true

Divebar · 11/03/2020 22:26

Loads and loads including a beautiful Guinness one but my all time favourite was the couple dancing the Argentine Tango ( for VW Polo cars ). The first time I saw it was in the cinema and I was pretty open mouthed at how much I loved it. I even sought it out on You Tube and have watched a little film about how they made it

CumbiaVillera · 11/03/2020 22:28

VW car squeaking, turns out it was the passengers earring.

Specsavers "Karen,we've got a cat with no pulse here" (Pheobe hiccups)

The British Gas advert when the Bulldog kisses the cat,who then kisses the mouse in front of the fireplace.

Yellow Pages "JR Hartley"

There was one with a Jack Russell who returned home with poodle puppies? I think it was a company who produced adverts?. Can't remember, but always laughed at it.

The boy swimming in the pool with the shark fin. Thompson/Tui type advert.

rednsparkley · 11/03/2020 22:29

The Jaffa Cakes "Full Moon, Half Moon, Total Eclipse" I cannot eat a Jaffa cake any other way now Grin

The Guinness dancing man and the horses one too

The "Charley Says" kids info ones

The red car and the blue car had a race - Milky Way

Hamlet Cigars ones were always quite funny

franke · 11/03/2020 22:38

So many.

"Nuts ooh hazelnuts. Cadbury’s take them and they cover them with chocolate"

All the Levis ads.

The Guinness dancing man.

Schadenfreude - I can't even remember what the ad was for.

Nicholas Lindhurst was once in an ad for Sealy beds which still makes me chuckle because it was so silly (Sealy).
