I'm curious to find out what membership and subscription fees are and whether they differ vastly from area to area. Would anyone mind sharing?

Ours in Leics have been put up this month. £47 per child per year membership fee plus £12 monthly subs.

Kent. £4 per week. More for trips/camps/etc.

Needtobepositive · 10/03/2020 13:20

West Sussex. £48 per term (so 3x a year) plus extra for camps and some trips.

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 10/03/2020 13:20

We charge £35 per term and £15 joining fee to cover resources on joining. Everything comes out of that - capitation, badges, hall hire, snacks, activities.

Kittykatmacbill · 10/03/2020 13:24

It’s only 20quid per term which I think is bonkers low.

waterbottle12 · 10/03/2020 13:35

£11 per month all year so £132 per year per child, one in cubs one in scouts. extra for trips etc. all emails about extras have a note saying that no-one should miss out for financial reasons and saying who to speak to in confidence if you're not paying. amazing value all due to the wonderful leaders who give their time for free.

waterbottle12 · 10/03/2020 13:36

sorry should have said - N London

mcmooberry · 10/03/2020 13:38

£10 per month Berkshire

InMySpareTime · 10/03/2020 13:38

£12 a month (down to £10 per child per month of more than one) Standing Order all year round.
Greater Manchester

nagynolonger · 10/03/2020 13:46

I've not been involved in scouting for several years. I think the £47 would be what we used to call the levy. It was for insurance. £12 per month sounds reasonable for activities.

Ask the leaders for a breakdown of how the cash is spent. None of them will be being paid for what they do.

Pimmsypimms · 10/03/2020 14:21

Derbyshire here, £10 per month subs, all year and no membership fee.

LuckyLickitung · 10/03/2020 14:21

My Beavers £33 per term, but extra for off-site activities.
My Brownies £35 per term but includes off-site pack night activities.

Same venue= same rent. Our rent is quite high compared to church hall type venues. Was talking recently to a Guider elsewhere in my county who pays less rent per year than we pay per term, but she's in an area where many parents can only pay £2 per week and struggle with block payments.

iklboo · 10/03/2020 14:21

£10 a month in Manchester area

Chienloup · 10/03/2020 14:22

West Sussex:
Scouts £10 per month
Rainbows £35 per term.

eosmum · 10/03/2020 14:22

€170 per year. Ireland. Christ we're being robbed.

eosmum · 10/03/2020 14:23

Plus 12€ for a hike if they cook food.

DrySnitch · 10/03/2020 14:25

Essex, Beavers £30 a term plus another £10-15 a term on optional extras like the occasional weekend sleepover or activity day

SedentaryCat · 10/03/2020 14:27

Oxfordshire: £25 per term. Extra cost for Summer/weekend camps and the recent winter challenge, etc.

Autumnrose9 · 10/03/2020 14:35

West of Scotland £40 for the year and £1 a week when it's running..

reluctantbrit · 10/03/2020 15:32

@eosmum - does it include trips? We pay for each trip separately and depending on it, we pay between £50-250 per camp or £10-50 for daytrip (the higher amount when it is a structured activity with an external trainer).

eosmum · 10/03/2020 15:37

@reluctantbrit no it doesn't. We pay separately for trips, they are going for 5 days in the summer (within Ireland) and it's €350. Overnights are around 40 per night if it's just a hike and no other paid activities.

reluctantbrit · 10/03/2020 16:06

@eosmum - wow

40andfeelingit · 10/03/2020 18:49

Beavers £3 a week
Brownies £17.50 per term
Would pay more than that!
Manchester

BikeRunSki · 10/03/2020 18:54

£15/month, all sections. No membership fee.
Budget per meeting, per child is 75p.
Rural West Yorkshire.

Pyjamaface · 10/03/2020 18:58

£12 A month all year. Norfolk

Camps, extra weekend activities are extra on top but if the group do any fundraising some of the proceeds are split between the kids that took part. It's credited to their account and used to pay for the extra stuff

jmh740 · 10/03/2020 19:00

Lancashire £30 a term
