I'm curious to find out what membership and subscription fees are and whether they differ vastly from area to area. Would anyone mind sharing?

Ours in Leics have been put up this month. £47 per child per year membership fee plus £12 monthly subs.

In SE England - have 2 DC at 2 different packs(!) One us £9 per month during term time only (beavers). The other is £12.50 per month all year round (scouts). No membership fee on top.

In comparison, DD pays £20 per half term for Guides.

QuixoticQuokka · 10/03/2020 19:05

£30 a term, so £90 a year. That covers meetings at the hut and night hikes, wide games, and so on. All camps, and activities like indoor climbing are extra. South West.

mygrandchildrenrock · 10/03/2020 19:05

Lincolnshire and Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are £3 per week, term time only, no membership fee but camps/trips etc. are extra.

Chasingsquirrels · 10/03/2020 19:06

Cambridge village
£40 per term subs - Beavers, Cubs & Scouts. Payable termly or £10pm.
£10 one off joining fee for Beavers and Cubs (or £6 moving up from Beavers to Cubs as already have a neckie).

Murraygoldberg · 10/03/2020 19:08

£2 a week, plus extra for camps which are very reasonable. I would happily pay more, it's a great organisation

Duckyneedsaclean · 10/03/2020 19:19

London, £6 a month for beavers, £10 a month for cubs.

Clockers41 · 10/03/2020 19:24

West Sussex - £35 per term for beavers, cubs and scouts

sanityisamyth · 10/03/2020 19:34

Cardiff - £25 a term for Beavers

whatnow40 · 10/03/2020 19:35

£10 pm Manchester but no subs due in Dec.

DrCoconut · 10/03/2020 20:13

£17.50 every half term. Camps and big trips are extra.

Yubaba · 10/03/2020 20:25

My group charge £40 a term plus camp fees.
We don’t charge for badges or weekly activities.
I’m a beaver leader.

Hovverry · 10/03/2020 20:35

I had no idea it varies so much. My DCs are past all this but these fees seem high, beyond the reach of, say, a single mum with several kids. They used to be affordable for everyone.

shortytrekker · 10/03/2020 21:04

£40 a term but we pay for trips and extras as they come up.

JaneBond0007 · 10/03/2020 21:07

@Hovverry
You have to bear in mind that MN is more representative of the upper end of the income scale.
We charge £40 a term but are on a wealthy area, I know in a local city in a poor area they only charge £1 a week.
Plus all groups will have some sort of policy on hardship funding.

notbeingfunnybut · 10/03/2020 21:13

£15 every half term, trips and camps are additional and we’ve just paid £20 capitation for the year. North west

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/03/2020 21:21

Nottinghamshire - £30 a term no fees. We pay extra for camps and activities but all great value. Last week DS had an activity day with climbing, orienteering, assault course etc. Lunch and snacks included for £10. Worth every single penny it's a fab organisation, the leaders give up so much free time.

Racheyg · 10/03/2020 21:30

East London and beavers is £25.00 per term

Whyismycatanasshat · 10/03/2020 22:37

I pay my nephews subs - cubs - £30 per term in North Yorkshire. He is autistic and it’s the best £90 a year I could spend on him. His leaders are brilliant and he achieves so much, he says it’s the closest to being a normal boy rather than a super hero...

My guides pay £40 a term, Borders area, but the hall we meet at has extortionate rents. It is however, extremely well equipped.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/03/2020 23:05

Its very cheap compared to other activities... I pay £20 a month for swimming for example, and that's only 30 mins compared to 1.5hrs. Sport club-£10 for each hour lesson. Looking at cricket for summer- £20 a month for hour session.
