When should I ask for my babysitting money?

I do it as it gets me out and, tbh, £40 can last me for the week without having to use my card. It is not well paid (compared to my day job) but I like meeting the dc etc.

Last night they never had cash so said theyd transfer. I completely understand how that can happen. I left my bank details. Its gone midday now and the shops shut early on a Sunday. I know its psychological but i really like to do a shop on a Sunday with my babysitting cash so it feels like Im treating myself 😀. They also came back 45 mins early through circumstances out of their control, nothing to do with me do you think they will knock ot off? When should I remind them?

Remind them now. I have babysitters and if I forgot I would feel mortified but glad you reminded me

Isadora2007 · 08/03/2020 12:32

Remind now. How rude.

PayingGuests · 08/03/2020 13:52

No replied to my message😟

Yes. Baby sitting is IMHO something that should be paid on the spot or at the very least first thing the next morning.

Not everyonet thinks like that I suppose they may think its ok to wait a few days but I certainly wouldn't be happy if I were on the receiving end of that thinking. Hope they get it to your soon OP

Southmouth · 08/03/2020 14:13

I would message them. They may have just simply forgot if they’re used to paying you on the spot. Have you baby sat for them before?

Fundays12 · 08/03/2020 14:15

I pay the babysitter as soon as she arrives in cash. If I comeback earlier than the agreed time she still gets paid for the pre agreed time. Have you babysat for them before? Some people really don’t seem to realise babysitting is a service that needs paid ASAP.

HollowTalk · 08/03/2020 14:20

Is this a family member?

caulkheaded · 08/03/2020 14:21

Have you sat for them before?

Settlersofcatan · 08/03/2020 14:22

I didn't think bank transfers would come through on a Sunday so I would assume it will be tomorrow

PayingGuests · 08/03/2020 14:27

Mine comes through immediately.

No I haven’t sat for them before and they are very busy. If i dont hear by tomorrow ill contact the agency. Like my neighbour said, I could've needed that mone6 to get home.

You should be paid for the hours they booked you for, as you blocked them out for them.

Just text them a reminder that you need to go shopping and were waiting on their bank transfer.

Settlersofcatan · 08/03/2020 14:33

I think they should have paid you cash yesterday - we always do - but chasing within 24 hours seems a bit fast! I would have waited until the end of Monday. It wouldn't have occurred to me that a babysitter would have literally no money and need it super urgently.

fedup21 · 08/03/2020 14:33

I hope they reply soon.

PayingGuests · 08/03/2020 14:36

Settler sometimes thats why people do it!

SpudsAreLife84 · 08/03/2020 14:38

Bloody hell, how cheeky are they?! I wouldn't dream of not paying the childminder there and then, absolutely awful! Add on a late payment charge of £25 for taking the piss Grin

HollowTalk · 08/03/2020 15:11

Are you with Sitters? If so complain to them today.

PayingGuests · 08/03/2020 18:32

Ill wait until tomorrow just incase it is a Sunday thing

OP posts:
lachy · 08/03/2020 22:08

TBH it wouldn't have ever crossed my mind not to have paid my babysitter in cash on the night.

Definitely chase up tomorrow if they've not paid.

notapizzaeater · 08/03/2020 22:11

Did you tidy up ? (Misses the point ....).

I'd def chase tomorrow - surely if it's an agency they can chase for you ?

PayingGuests · 09/03/2020 10:24

No I never tidied up! I did offer and they said no just enjoy yourself. They were lovely but Im about to ring the agency.

Sparklfairy · 09/03/2020 10:27

Hope you get it sorted soon. It's horrible doing a service for someone and they don't even have the respect to remember to pay you. They didn't go to the restaurant (or wherever they went when you sat for them), say 'thanks, that was a lovely meal' and walk out and pay when they get around to it!

JenNtonic · 09/03/2020 11:07

@PayingGuests Assholes! Hope you get your Doh !! Xx

PayingGuests · 09/03/2020 11:10

The women at Sitters made me feel like it was my fault she jumped right down my throat.

OP posts:
JenNtonic · 09/03/2020 11:23

What do you mean OP ? Xx are you getting paid ?

PayingGuests · 09/03/2020 11:34

Well Sitters are notorious for coming down on the parents side. You cant say anything negative about them. Shes going to ring them later today.
