When should I ask for my babysitting money?

I do it as it gets me out and, tbh, £40 can last me for the week without having to use my card. It is not well paid (compared to my day job) but I like meeting the dc etc.

Last night they never had cash so said theyd transfer. I completely understand how that can happen. I left my bank details. Its gone midday now and the shops shut early on a Sunday. I know its psychological but i really like to do a shop on a Sunday with my babysitting cash so it feels like Im treating myself 😀. They also came back 45 mins early through circumstances out of their control, nothing to do with me do you think they will knock ot off? When should I remind them?

Is there a different agency you can use in future?

Windyatthebeach · 09/03/2020 11:38

If you don't get paid remember to rate them wherever you can.. The agency and some places you can rate the family..

Rainbows8117 · 09/03/2020 11:49

What were you meant to do, refuse to leave the house until they gave you some cash?!

How annoying!

PayingGuests · 09/03/2020 12:17

No you can never rate them on these kinds of sites its always the parents who have the upper hand to rate you. Bubble is the same. And if they dont rate you Sitters mark you down, its dusgusting.

Phew! I am ancient now, but babysat once on New Year’s Bloody Eve for a couple of friends of my parents that I had never met. They “forgot” their wallets (pissed, of course) and gave me the revolting sugary almond things in tulle from a wedding that were so old they were bulletproof, faded and covered in dust. Thanks!!! How very generous...🤮 They seemed surprised when I refused to babysit for them the following weekend and told them why.

Spanielmadness · 09/03/2020 13:43

I’m with sitters and it’s very handy for extra cash, but yes parents cancel/reduce hours at the last minute...... god forbid you should ever have to cancel a booking yourself......

PayingGuests · 09/03/2020 13:47

I know and the amount of jobs they offer you 25 mins drive from your house its ridiculous. And they wont let you write anything about your experience on your profile but insist on you declaring how many children you have birthed as if thst makes you a better sitter.

Sorry to hijack but can you tell me more about sitters. Every now and then I need a babysitter and having no family locally struggle a bit to find one.

I've always been slightly reluctant to use an agency as you don't know who you're getting.. so how does it work. Do they let you meet the sitter in advance or do you as a complete stranger turn up to be left with another person's children in their home for the evenings. I assume all dbs checks are done by sitters themselves. Also can you express a preference for a sitter you've ahd before

listsandbudgets · 09/03/2020 13:54

PS OP glad you got paid

PayingGuests · 09/03/2020 13:57

Its very good I can vouch that they do properly vet the sitters. You pay £4 per sit on top of the cash you give. I think theres a joining fee. I get offers for days or nights and they can help you put last minute. Are you in a busy town as I think that helps.

Yay 😁😁xx

listsandbudgets · 09/03/2020 14:03

We are in a big city. I will take antother look at them. Thank you

katy1213 · 09/03/2020 14:04

If this is through an agency, surely they provide guidance on this? I'd have thought you should be paid up front on arrival for however many hours they booked, whether they come home early or not.
Definitely remind them. For the future I'd introduce a late payment penalty charge.

HollowTalk · 09/03/2020 17:02

I found Sitters to be very good. (I was a babysitter.) The woman I spoke to would've gone crazy if I hadn't been paid.
