WTAF have I done to my hand?

Omg I'm delirious with pain
I boxed tonight, my knuckle felt a but itchy in the glove but fine

Boxed for about 20 minutes and since I've taken my glove off the pain in my finger, knuckle and hand is unbearable
It hurts even when I'm not moving it, it's just constant
It's not particularly swollen but is red

Any idea what it could be?

Ummm, dunno, could be the BOXING 🥊?

MozzchopsThirty · 02/03/2020 19:31

If something is broken does it burn, sting, cause agony???

Was there something inside the glove you are allergic to? Try taking some anti-histamine?

I have had trigger finger and tendonitis in my hand and both are excruciating. Tendonitis can be started by an awkward blow to the hand. I used to put my hand in a sink of freezing water it's the only thing that worked. If it persists you have to get a steroid injection into the joint and that sorts it out.

DecemberSnow · 02/03/2020 19:37

Could something of been in the glove that bit you?

woodencoffeetable · 02/03/2020 19:38

insect bite or contact allergy?
take an antihistamine and see if that helps?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/03/2020 19:43

My experience of breaks is a searing burning pain, like someone holding a hot iron to your skin.

MozzchopsThirty · 02/03/2020 19:50

Yep it's the burning that's the worst
It's spreading down to my wrist

Didn't think about a bite, I'll take something now and see if it helps

OP posts:
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/03/2020 19:51

Use ice.

HappyHammy · 02/03/2020 19:55

If its spreading maybe best to seek medical advice. Is it settling down?

MozzchopsThirty · 02/03/2020 20:11

I have 3 boxes of drugs in my cupboard but no antihistamine 🙄
Off to Sainsburys

MozzchopsThirty · 02/03/2020 20:13

This is what it looks like
The pain is still hideous!

did you wear a ring?
tbh the ring-like bruise makes me think fracture.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/03/2020 20:18

Have you iced it?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/03/2020 20:20

It looks red and your finger looks swollen, if it doesn't improve with pain killers and ice then I'd go and get it checked out tomorrow at the GP if you think you will be able to sleep tonight- if not then A and E.

MozzchopsThirty · 02/03/2020 21:03

I've taken some piriton
Ibuprofen & paracetamol

I had a band on but I normally wear it when I'm boxing

Now people have mentioned a bite I did feel something sharp, took the glove off and then my PT noticed a dead spider on the floor

But I'm not sure this level of pain would be from a bite

OP posts:
MitziK · 02/03/2020 21:05

The burning and itching suggests a break - I've got direct experience of this and the untreated, permanently deformed finger as a result and lots as the person sending people with such symptoms off to get x-rayed. I've not been wrong yet (wish I had, but at least I'm spotting them).

Another indication is if the lightest trace of somebody else's finger over the skin burns when it wouldn't even tickle normally.

I would encourage you to get it x-rayed tonight.

HappyHammy · 02/03/2020 21:08

I would get it checked it looks sore and swollen. What did the spider look like. That could just be a coincidence but you wont know.

woodencoffeetable · 02/03/2020 21:09

most importantly - how does your opponent look Wink

Tippexy · 02/03/2020 21:11

That middle finger looks very obviously broken to me.

MozzchopsThirty · 02/03/2020 21:20

🙈🙈🙈 oh no

I can bend it

But it's been constant pain now since 5.30
It's such an awful ache/burn/sting all at the same time

I can't go to A&E tonight, will have to be tomorrow
Hopefully I can get some sleep

Have only ever broken my collarbone but I didn't know breaks felt like this

Elieza · 02/03/2020 21:29

I don’t know what you te supposed to do with a spider bite.

Presumably if the spider bite was venomous and the discolouration tracks up your arm get down to A&E ASAP.

I’m presuming it was a regular house spider and not some weird horror movie spider and that you are in the U.K.? Not that this means you don’t get poisonous spiders here, they come over in banana boxes as my ex can testify, or they can escape peoples collections. I’m just saying to keep an eye on it.

HappyHammy · 02/03/2020 21:36

It could be the tendon or a break. Hope you feel better soon. Have you called 111 for advice if you can get through.

MozzchopsThirty · 03/03/2020 13:11

Quick update, pain was so bad overnight I thought I would pass out

Saw GP this morning who thinks it's a false black widow bite 🕷🕷
I am absolutely fucking horrified!!!!!!!!

Have you got antibiotics? I have had a spider bite and it took ages to settle down, poor you!
