I am getting too involved in the corona virus threads so wanted to start something lighthearted!

Went to visit DSis recently. She bought a wine box. I have bought the odd one in the past and once the little tap stopped producing wine just threw it out. I did not realise that there is nearly a whole bottle of wine left in the bag at that point! I felt really stupid but now view it as “free” wine given I would have thrown it away!

What silly things didn’t you realise until someone pointed it out to you?

My DD told me recently that when you snap your fingers it's not actually your fingers making the noise, it's your fingers hitting the palm of your hand. How could I have lived this long and not noticed that

Ive just been sat trying this and my husband literally gave me this look Hmm

He is now clicking his own fingers to see for himself

OhTheRoses · 02/03/2020 21:02

@calleighDoodle oh yes. Who knew Grin

sueelleker · 02/03/2020 21:12

I only realised this week when my bank card expired and I got sent a new one it’s the exact same details (card no etc ) only with a new expiry date.
The first 8 numbers on mine are the same, but the next 8 are different.

After two years of using our current dishwasher and swearing when the DINNER PLATES NEVER BLOODY FIT PROPERLY in the bottom rack... I realised the top rack is adjustable and can move up a notch. All the dinner plates fit fine now.

Please check your dishwashers.

Spartonian · 02/03/2020 21:18

@EmmaGrundyForPM Did she avoid you after that.

MintyMabel · 02/03/2020 21:25

Frey Bentos(yes that is a real place) then round tins mean there is a lot of space between the tins

They still make their pies round so I doubt that’s great much to do with it.

I was an adult, over 40, before I realised why as a child watching The Generation Game with my parents they laughed when Larry Grayson referred to his friend Everard.

I didn't realise this and I'm well over 40! ShockGrin

beanaseireann · 02/03/2020 21:43

If the dog didn't go to the farm where did it go ? Hmm

EggysMom · 02/03/2020 21:46

Re the finger clicking, even when I learnt this a few months ago it didn't change the fact that I still can't do it Blush

Absolutepowercorrupts · 02/03/2020 21:49

@beanaseireann
I'm assuming the dog had died

The sound of clicking fingers reverberates around the land ...

coconuttelegraph · 02/03/2020 22:09

I didn't realise that people actually told their chilren that the dog had gone to a farm, I thought that was something made up for comic effect in films and TV programmes.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 02/03/2020 22:18

On holiday last year I was talking to someone about where we lived, and mentioned it was very close to Grantchester. She loved the series but had thought it was a fictional place like Emmerdale or Midsummer.

Beamur · 02/03/2020 22:21

@Melekelikimaka
Ha ha. I discovered this by accident last year. Has changed my life (by finally cleaning the big plates)
Delighted to know the finger snapping is being properly tested out there! Grin

ArthurMorgan · 02/03/2020 22:32

My mum thought the same thing until I pointed out to her a few months ago that her dog went to the farm when she was a kid.. Hmm

And the chicken joke! Oh my god!!

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 02/03/2020 22:54

I think the chicken “joke” has been disputed

Spongeface · 02/03/2020 23:06

@Melekelikimaka really!!!! I have gotten rid of plates for not fitting in the dishwasher... Happy day!

Melekelikimaka · 02/03/2020 23:10

I can’t promise but it’s definitely worth a look !
