What is wrong with me? Extreme fatigue and constantly needing to wee!

I’ve already seen the GP who did some blood tests but this was before the constant weeing kicked in.

My ferritin levels were 5 (which they said is very low) so I’ve been on iron supplements for a month now but the tiredness has been getting worse to the point I’m really struggling to accomplish anything and taking care of my kids is becoming challenging. My thyroid has been checked as well as all my vitamin levels and complete blood count. All fine except the ferritin.

I have booked another appointment for Wednesday but I’m starting to really worry about these symptoms.

I have moderate anxiety and depression and I also suffer from chronic Urticaria so I’m on a range of medicines every day; Fexofenadine, Ranitidine & Sertraline as well as the iron tablets and combined pill.

I know how I’m feeling is not normal. I’m just scared about what could be causing this. Probably not relevant but I’m 31 years old.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

Type 1 diabetes or pregnancy

TooGood2BeFalse · 28/02/2020 17:55

What Peach said..were my first thoughts

Have you been checked for diabetes? I was under the impression that extreme fatigue and frequent urination were classic symptoms. Do you need the loo at lot at night in particular?

Definitely not pregnancy. Although I have gained a few pounds also which is odd for me. DH and I haven’t been intimate so much lately (as I’ve not been in a good headspace) and I’m also taking the pill daily so it would be extremely unlikely.

We’re your calcium levels checked? Hypercalcaemia can cause both fatigue and excessive weeing / thirst.

TheNoiseHurts · 28/02/2020 17:58

Get your bloody sugars checked.

But extreme fatigues is common when ferritin levels are in your boots.

SocialMediaUser1511 · 28/02/2020 17:59

Also causes anxiety and depression... #justsayin’

EggysMom · 28/02/2020 18:00

Pregnancy. You say it's unlikely, not that it's impossible.

earlydoors42 · 28/02/2020 18:02

Type 1 diabetes. Please get checked urgently - it can turn to DKA very suddenly. Best to check blood sugars 2 hours after food - NOT a fasting test. And/or check your wee for sugar - a nurse at your GP should be able to do both of these things.

earlydoors42 · 28/02/2020 18:03

Ps go straight to a&e if you start to feel unwell

Bubblysqueak · 28/02/2020 18:03

I have the same symptoms but my blood results came back with vitamin b12 deficiency.

userabcname · 28/02/2020 18:05

I was also going to say diabetes.

RedDiamond · 28/02/2020 18:08

Get your Folate levels checked.

QualityStreeet · 28/02/2020 18:09

Okay, I’ll see if I can get my blood sugars checked ASAP.

Would pregnancy not have come up in the blood tests I had?

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 28/02/2020 18:13

Did they check your b12? They often don't check that out when checking other vitamin levels.

QualityStreeet · 28/02/2020 18:14

Yes, they checked b12 as I’ve been deficient in that in the past (during pregnancy) so I specifically asked for that. It was normal.

SocialMediaUser1511 · 28/02/2020 18:15

No they won’t look for pregnancy.

Flufferbum · 28/02/2020 18:20

I’ve heard a B12 shot does wonders OP. When money is better I’ll be going to get one!

Devlesko · 28/02/2020 18:21

This is what I was like when diabetes undiagnosed.

apples24 · 28/02/2020 18:22

Take a pregnancy test just in case you haven't yet.

DontCallMeShitley · 28/02/2020 18:35

Vitamin B deficiency. Have you had your Vit D levels checked?

Look at B complex and the individual components.

Side effects of some of the meds. Ranitidine knocks me for six.

Blood sugar levels?

HauntedDolls · 28/02/2020 18:40

The 4 T's of type 1 diabetes:
Thirsty
Tired
Thin (unexplained weight loss)
Toilet (increased urination)
I had all these plus blurry vision and diziness. Get your blood sugar levels checked 👍

Bumblesbumbles · 28/02/2020 18:44

You should get checked for diabetes and coeliac

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 28/02/2020 18:45

I have identical symptoms at the moment. Have you had a urine sample tested? I have a constant uti. My bloods came back with low ferritin too. I need to repeat them after 3 months to check iron and thyroid.

I only found out about the thyroid today after getting an emergency appointment with the nurse practitioner for the latest course of antibiotics for uti. I think that might be it (in my case). I'm so tired, put on weight for the first time in my life really (other than babies). NP recommended I see a different GP who would be more suited to my ailments. She was so helpful, I was really so fed up this morning and she made me feel much better. She also indicated it's often a hormone imbalance causing these issues. I'm 39.

GloGirl · 28/02/2020 19:09

Its possible you have whatever is going on and a small urine infection or cystitis?

Your GP will probably let you drop a urine sample off without having to make a docs appointment?
