What is wrong with me? Extreme fatigue and constantly needing to wee!

I’ve already seen the GP who did some blood tests but this was before the constant weeing kicked in.

My ferritin levels were 5 (which they said is very low) so I’ve been on iron supplements for a month now but the tiredness has been getting worse to the point I’m really struggling to accomplish anything and taking care of my kids is becoming challenging. My thyroid has been checked as well as all my vitamin levels and complete blood count. All fine except the ferritin.

I have booked another appointment for Wednesday but I’m starting to really worry about these symptoms.

I have moderate anxiety and depression and I also suffer from chronic Urticaria so I’m on a range of medicines every day; Fexofenadine, Ranitidine & Sertraline as well as the iron tablets and combined pill.

I know how I’m feeling is not normal. I’m just scared about what could be causing this. Probably not relevant but I’m 31 years old.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

You are presumably bleeding heavily and they need to look at this. They have checked for the obvious and you need to be persistent. Some things can only be diagnosed with a scan. I'm sorry you are feeling unwell and I hope the cause is found soon.

I’m actually not bleeding much at all. I have suffered from very heavy periods in the past so I take the pill for 3 continuous months and then have the 7 day break. That way my blood loss is much less.

If I was pregnant, is it likely I wouldn’t bleed if I stopped taking the pill?

My first thoughts were diabetes and pregnancy. I would say you need to POAS ASAP.

In my last 2 pregnancies, I didn’t get increased urination at all. I suppose not all pregnancies are the same. If I am pregnant, this is absolutely awful timing. We are in debt from me being a SAHM for the past 5 years and I’ve just started applying for jobs. We don’t own our home and have £1,000 in savings (vs £3,000 debt).

Thanks for the information, and I have to say I am not a doctor, but if you do not have heavy periods but still have been put on iron and have low ferritin, isn't there a possibility that you could be bleeding internally? That's what I would talk to the doctor about and consider getting checked out. You may not be suffering from a gynecological condition but something else. A scan may be able to detect, but it does sound like it is probably not fibroids or a cyst. Anyway, I hope all goes well and you start to feel better.

Needing to pee- diabetes type 2

puppymouse · 28/02/2020 20:10

Diabetes - identical symptoms a friend had. Early onset.

FuturePerfect · 28/02/2020 20:15

Internal bleeding sounds pretty scary 😥 hopefully not that. My haemoglobin is within the normal ranges so hopefully that’s a positive sign.

I hope the GP can give me some answers and I really hope it’s nothing too serious!

Unlikely to be internal bleeding - that would show as low haemoglobin ime

Low ferritin and normal haemoglobin usually means that your iron stores are depleted.

So they need to be built up.... google it. It's an interesting conundrum for doctors Confused and I'm not sure too many of them understand it. But the tiredness fits.

How excessive is the needing to pee? I am T1, diagnosed as an adult within the last 5 years. I was up in the night several times and no amount of drinking helped to quench my thirst. If you have similar symptoms do not wait until Wednesday, you could be in dka by then. Buy some over the counter dip sticks and test your urine for ketones. If ketones are present then it's a 111 job (not normally, just as you're undiagnosed)
