How often do you fall asleep in front of the telly?

Life's so busy and exhausting at the moment I literally do it every night. Sometimes it's just for 10 minutes other times it can be 2 hours+. Sometimes do it with my dinner on my lap. And ONCE with a glass of wine in my hand. I've emphasize the word once because I'll never be doing that again, makes too much mess lol.

Just wondering how often do you guys do it (if at all).

It's not normal to do it with your dinner in your lap , I'd get to the doctor!

mindutopia · 24/02/2020 18:14

Almost never, to be fair, I only watch tv about twice a week, and it’s a rare enough occurrence that I definitely stay awake for it. Maybe only if really ill.

happymummy12345 · 24/02/2020 18:16

I've never done it.

marblesgoing · 24/02/2020 18:16

Dh does it every single night Hmm

lazylinguist · 24/02/2020 18:17

Never. I find it hard enough to get to sleep in bed, never mind anywhere else! Never ever sleep on planes, in cars etc either, regardless of how tired I am.

AhoyMrBeaver · 24/02/2020 18:17

Rarely. Christmas Day and perhaps one hangover Sunday every year.

Tootea · 24/02/2020 18:19

If I lay down to watch TV then I always fall asleep. If I'm sat up I don't.

Notso · 24/02/2020 18:19

Rarely now. Last time I did was when I was ill.
When we had DC4 16 months after DC3 it was a nightly occurrence until they were about 3.

Mintjulia · 24/02/2020 18:21

Regularly. I'm a 56yo single mum who works full time.

I have an alarm set for 11pm now. If I do fall asleep, my phone wakes me up so I can go to bed and not wake up at 3am with a crick in my neck.

MummySharn · 24/02/2020 18:21

Rarely

UncomfortableSilence · 24/02/2020 18:22

At least 4-5 times a week, I get up at 5.30 every day and I don't sleep well. I hate it, feel like I have no evening.

Dinosforall · 24/02/2020 18:23

Never except when I was pregnant

BackforGood · 24/02/2020 18:23

Not something I do either.
I'm always pretty awake in the evenings, tbh - unfortunately, as it means I don't go to bed as early as I should.

I do like an afternoon nap when I get tired though Wink

purplecorkheart · 24/02/2020 18:24

I am a very poor sleeper and find it almost impossibly to drop off so probably only once or twice.

cushioncovers · 24/02/2020 18:27

Rarely

Fizzypoo · 24/02/2020 18:28

Each time I've had a new job or upped my work hours I go through a few months of adjusting that means I fall asleep watching telly.

lastburritos · 24/02/2020 18:28

I used to on a daily basis. One underactive thyroid diagnosis and regular b12 injections later and I can now stay awake till 11pm! Seriously, get yourself to a doctor to be checked just in case.

ExpletiveDelighted · 24/02/2020 18:29

Virtually never.

Snozzlemaid · 24/02/2020 18:32

Never have

rabbitwoman · 24/02/2020 18:50

I used to end up falling asleep in front of the telly pretty much every night. Turns out I do have narcolepsy! A bit of medication and some lifestyle changes and I rarely do any more, though whenever I have an afternoon nap it's always in front of the telly with a horror film on! Then when I wake up, I can check how long the film has been on for and that's how long I have been asleep.

Buddyelf · 24/02/2020 18:59

Never but then I do have trouble falling asleep anywhere that’s not a bed

MrsAukerman · 24/02/2020 19:59

Every. Single. Day.

(maybe 95-99% of the time)

ilovebagpuss · 24/02/2020 20:13

Never. I might feel a bit tired but I’ve never nodded off. My friend does it all the time watching films etc finally made her go to the GP and she very low on iron. Unless you have really young children or sleep badly at night I think it’s a bit worrying.

longwayoff · 24/02/2020 20:22

Never, nor in car or on train, etc. Bed with lights off essential.

okiedokieme · 24/02/2020 20:25

Most days! Afternoon is the worst but was getting dopey so got up just now. If I sleep too early then I wake by 2am!
