Would anyone like to indulge in a 'Worst Week' competition?

Go on, beat this

  • skelped the car off a pothole you could lose a bus in (was hidden by a puddle), 2 new tyres
  • dropped my phone in the bath
  • boiler broke
  • sat on my glasses

And the icing on the cake- nits. I have nits.

Some cosmic being is really taking the piss.

I cant win this week but I did the same with a pothole and 2 tyres. Everyone asked how I hadn't seen it! Well because it was hidden in a puddle and if I could have swerved to avoid it I would have!!! I was devastated. I have spent far too much money on tyres in my life and I'm only 34. I had to replace 5 tyres one month then 4 the next when some delight decided to slash the tyres on all the cars on the street. Police think they were trying to hide the true target.

So you can imagine how I felt dropping into the crater of a pothole at the end of the same year Sad

Based in this week you're due good things for the future!

Ooh I'll take that challenge! This is only 5 days worth, not a whole week, so there's still time for it to get worse better:

-2yo and 5yo with flu
-2yo knocked himself out on a windowsill necessitating a trip to A&E

  • I caught flu (on top of the end of glandular fever I've been getting over, which has kept me off work since January, now on half pay and even that ends next month) developed a chest infection and ended up spending my 30th birthday in hospital because I couldn't breathe (I work in said hospital and while in A&E cried at several colleagues because I felt so ill. They also now know my exact (too heavy) weight and that I really need to buy some new bras).
-While I was in hospital DH and still-unwell DC got woken at 4am by a cat fight, on our landing (evil neighbourhood bully cat had come in to attack ours, DH lacerated in process of untangling them, cat hair (and poo) everywhere and our cat traumatised and bleeding requiring vets trip -The roof has started leaking -The clutch on DH's car gave out -DS1 is over the flu but still refusing to eat anything at all because food tasted wrong while he was ill and he's autistic -DH had to go back to work today, I'm still too ill to get out of bed so my DM and FIL are both here looking after the kids (which should be a good thing but they really don't get on so that's awkward), and my mother is taking the opportunity to rearrange my kitchen cupboards without my interference and I'm never going to be able to find anything ever again

I do not have nits though Grin

birthdaypityparty · 22/02/2020 13:36

(Oh but I do have toothache - forgot that part)

Whynosnowyet · 22/02/2020 13:37

ValentineValentini · 22/02/2020 13:56

Commiserations all. Poor doggy pts and cats at the vet. And children at A&E.

It can only get better. What song is that again?

Ivf failed Sad
Everything else shit paled into insignificance
I'm sorry to all those having shit weeks, especially losing loved ones Flowers

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 22/02/2020 16:15

Oh god, my week pales into insignificance compared to some of these. missing and park Flowers

£1500 bill for the car to be fixed, dh able to mend the broken dishwasher and leaking water softener but the washing machine is kaput and I’ve still got school uniform to wash for Monday.

Also found out yesterday that a friend lost her son last week. He’d been ill but was expected to recover. Complications set in and they couldn’t save him. He was only 24. Can’t imagine what they’re going through.

QueenOfOversharing · 22/02/2020 16:27

Mine is pathetic by comparison, but have nobody to vent to.

Ended up in A&E 2 weeks ago with acute thyroiditis & been so unwell since then.
Son lost uni place.
Son lost p/t job
One dog had seizures & diagnosed epileptic.
Same dog suspected hip dysplasia.
My birthday today & had 1 FB message & a couple of texts - that's it.
MH really bad & steroids for thyroid maybe making things worse - really don't want to be here.

missingmydad · 22/02/2020 16:38

park adorabelle queen your shit weeks are truly shit, we all have our stuff to deal with and it's irrelevant how shit a time somebody else is having, when we're dealing with shit it's....well...shit!

Coping with ivf failure, coping with mh difficulties and money problems is hard. An elderly person dying at the end of a good life is a different ball game altogether. A 24 year old dying from complications is a tragedy, an 85 year old is not, at least not in my book.

Flowers to you all.
