which would you choose for a weekend away with your DP? Coastal hotel with great views ( no spa or pool) or a rural shepherts hut with its own hot tub?

It was Hoots Treehouse. Absolutely amazing!

HebeMumsnet · 17/02/2020 12:21

Just coming on to say whenever one of you posts about sex ponds I have an earworm of Tom Jones singing 'Sex Pond' to 'Sex Bomb' for DAYS. So thanks for that.

OP - I'd go for the coastal hotel.

Shepherd's hut every time! I love the privacy.

As for how big the beds are, it depends on the build of the hut. My brother built two shepherd's hut and those beds are plenty big enough for a 6 foot man. But then.. my brother built the huts himself from scratch so he could make it so. I'd check with the owner OP about the bed size :)

Lindeth Howe hotel, lake Windermere
Just not on a weekend if there’s a wedding
Breakfasts to die for
We were there before the storms and was fab
Peaceful and quiet, no pool or hot tubs

If sex bomb gets any dram will do out of my head , I’ll be very grateful 😂

Dowser · 17/02/2020 12:40

Dream..ffs

Dowser · 17/02/2020 12:41

Please mnet..stop advertising shepherds huts and hot tubs to me
Had a hot tub years ago and we have our own static 😂

Candyfloss99 · 17/02/2020 12:41

Shepherds hut. Wouldn't know the bed size. Shepherds huts vary widely.

peachgreen · 17/02/2020 12:44

We stayed in a shephard's hut a few years ago - no hot tub but a luxury outdoor shower and a sauna, and it was gorgeous. We loved it.

Elphame · 17/02/2020 13:12

Shepherds hut but one without a hot tub. I'd never ever ever get in one at a holiday let so no point in paying a premium for one I'd not use

Notso · 17/02/2020 13:32

Hmm, I do love a sex pond to get pissed in but we stayed at a holiday place with a wood fired one and never managed to get it hot the whole week we were there.
So unless someone is going to light it for me I wouldn't bother.

Hotels though, I always find them a bit of an anti climax and you've got other people twatting around in them. Although I love the sea so that's a plus.

Depends what you want to do really.
When we go away just the two of us it's basically about shagging, eating and uninterrupted lie ins so I'd choose the place with the comfiest bed and best food options.

Movinghouseatlast · 26/02/2020 12:26

The rules state that not tubs have to have the water changed between guests. Most reputable owners would not risk not doing this.

We have just bought a shepherd's hut to rent out for holiday letting. In common with many others it will have a huge amount of private space outdoors, a wood burning stove indoors, proper bathroom and beautiful surroundings. For £100 a night you just couldn't get a hotel with the same level of luxury and privacy. We are very lucky in that we are a 5 minute walk from a coastal village, so I'm hoping we will provide the best of both worlds!

Some people I know just wouldn't be interested in that type of weekend away though.

Movinghouseatlast · 26/02/2020 12:34

Oh and most are standard double size, but longer as they fit the width of the hut. The extra bit at the end is often a storage bin. So very can stick beyond the mattress.

FizzyPink · 26/02/2020 19:01

@Movinghouseatlast if you can also add WiFi and a TV with Netflix I’m on the waiting list 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’ve looked at so many that look lovely but we’d be bored within a few hours as they’re so basic

NemophilistRebel · 26/02/2020 19:04

I love both but I’d only pick the hotel if it was properly luxury with a spa. Otherwise hide away in a shepherds hut any day

(Il leave the hot tub)

Bigearringsbigsmile · 26/02/2020 19:05

At this time of year? Hotel every time!

CoraPirbright · 26/02/2020 20:07

Shepherds hut/sex pond. Unless the beach near the hotel is v good then hotel.

shinynewapple2020 · 26/02/2020 20:25

No question, coastal hotel with great views and lovely food in the restaurant.

Somanysocks · 26/02/2020 20:29

'Sex pond' Shock oh no my new neighbours have a hot tub, I don't want goings on like that in my road (and earshot).

Movinghouseatlast · 27/02/2020 11:34

@Turnedouttoes we do have Wi-Fi and Netflix!!!!
