Skin tags...how do you remove

Ive got several.on my neck....not surevehat causes them.but I do have longish hair.

Some keep catching and quite painfull.

How do I go about getting them removed a friend said GP wont do it now

Watching with interest. I had mine removed at the gp surgery about 15 years ago but they’ve since grown back.

You can get kits to do it on amazon. It puts a small thread round it so it cuts off the blood supply and falls off.

If they are really tiny you can snip them off with nail clippers or tweezers. If not, tie a bit of cotton thread round it, very very tightly and it'll go black, shrink and fall off in a week.

My GP removed one for me years ago. You have to pay now but lots of GP surgeries do it privately. There are also private clincs. It's about £100 depending on the number. You could try the cotton way but that always seems so victorian to me. Just google for places in your city.

I second Amazon kits. Have two different sizes for your tags, an applicator and work with 5-7 days.

I did my own with cotton. DH did the ones I couldnt reach. Put a plaster on and left alone for a week. Perfect.

I have the tagband kit from Amazon. After 2 days the tag goes black and then i use steralised scissors to snip it off. Easy and painfree. I put a plaster over the tag to keep the rubber band on. Its so easy to do. And it doesn't bleed as the supply has been cut off. The reviews on Amazon say they fall off but when i started using the kit mine didnt and after about a week the runner band was making my neck sore so i cut it off. But made sure i boiled my nail scissors first.

I cant do it myself really scared Ive got about 6-7.

You really can, or you can go private and pay £100s.

I had a small skin tag on my neck and put Bazuka on it.

It worked really well, but it might not work so well for big ones.

My GP attacked mine with liquid nitrogen but they grew back.

I painted clear nail varnish on mine. IIRC after a few days they shrivelled up and fell off.

I had 1 when I was pregnant with DD1, I used cotton, it was super easy and came off within a few days.

I did one near my belly button, one on my ds neck and one on my friend's neck.

Mine was more like a wart, my ds's appeared soon after a sunburn so I would say they are related to minor "injury"/scratches.

I have read that they are more common in people who might be pre-diabetics (my friend is pre-diabetic with lots of skin tags in the neck area.

Have you ever cut your finger while cooking, put a plaster on it and thought no more of it? That’s basically the same amount of flesh as a skin tag.
I get them from friction where my shoulder-bag strap goes to my armpit. Sharp, sterilised scissors, antiseptic cream and a plaster. Done.

I had a small one on my neck that fell off after using these. I used to use them on my face then quickly swish the other side over my neck. I noticed after a while the skin tag had disappeared.

I've had these done at a beauticians. Not expensive iirc.

It honestly doesn't hurt, OP - I sliced one on my arm off, without shrivelling it or anything first (where it was meant I couldn't tie dental floss or anything round it) - it stopped bleeding after 30 seconds of direct pressure, and hurt much, much less than where I nicked my finger with the veg peeler yesterday. So much less, it genuinely didn't hurt at all - not even a sting - and I am a total wuss.

If you can't band it or shrivel it, just whip it off, honestly - mine caught all the time and was quite sore a lot of the time. I feel slightly cheated, in a way, that it was so quick, easy and painless to get rid of

I got several of them in pregnancy. Apparently it's hormone related but I also had gestational diabetes. There is research that suggests skin tags are sometimes a sign of insulin resistance or diabetes. If you keep getting them it might be a good idea to check your glucose levels.

I've just done mine with this kit.

It's so very easy as the device just slides the band around each tag. It drops off in a few days. Painless and easy.

They don't look like the skin tags I have. Mine are flesh colored and longish. I think you are right to go to the GP just to be safe.

I was quoted £200 for a private gp consultation to get mine sorted. Went to a beauty therapist which was cheaper but I would not recommend!
I would try the Amazon kit - that wasn't around when I needed it.

Actually, Googling, they do seem normal. I keep think I must get mine sorted, but I just have 2 on my tummy and they don't really bother me.

Honestly it's so easy and painless to do it yourself. Tie a length of cotton thread tight around the base, snip off ends of thread if they're long and cover with a plaster.
They'll die and drop off in about a week.
I've done many of my own and it doesn't hurt at all.
