Billy Joel, ‘Always a woman to me’. Heard this introduced on the radio today as a romantic love letter to his wife.
‘She’ll carelessly cut you and laugh while you’re bleeding’ - wtf?
What other apparently sweet loving songs have lyrics that on closer inspection turn out to be woman-hating bile?

Neither can I. Chris deBurgh explained it was about his own wife and being overwhelmed by her beauty. I don't see anything 'evil/mysoginistic' about that.

Some of these are obvious , some we read to much into it. Lady in red is fine. And the first lines set the seen she is in a club surrounded by young men on the pull sounds like the average saterday night.

What spoils lady in red for me is the knowledge he was cheating on his wife with (iirc) their nanny.
