I wouldn’t...

HeddaGarbled · 06/02/2020 20:21

Nope

CherryPlum · 06/02/2020 20:22

No way

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/02/2020 20:23

Do either of you have insurance?

I’m not sure you’d be covered for anything relating to Coronavirus now...

No, I’m fairly sure I wouldn’t be going. Sadly, as I’d love to go! But there’s no guarantee that foreigners will even be allowed in in April.

FunnyInjury · 06/02/2020 20:24

I'm going for the 7's. I have family there so wouldnt not go unless flights actually stopped 🤷‍♀️

Floralnomad · 06/02/2020 20:24

If I was a fit and healthy person I probably would but I’ve got multiple health issues including asthma so I wouldn’t personally .

Reginabambina · 06/02/2020 20:24

No, my immune system is in pieces after a long germy winter (anemic so so I have had EVERYTHING going around).

user14572856389 · 06/02/2020 20:24

Nope.

hennyspennys · 06/02/2020 20:26

No, there are plenty of other places to go so if I was going on holiday it wouldn't be to China. I know it's to see your boyfriend's family but it'd still be a no, I wouldn't be wanting to see him for a fortnight after he came back either.

hennyspennys · 06/02/2020 20:27

Sorry, just saw it was to see friends. Still a no even if it's your friends and not his family or friends.

cheeseandpineapple · 06/02/2020 20:34

I love HK and have been wanting to visit for a while now to see friends, initially i put off going because of the riots and now I wouldn’t go because of the virus outbreak.

Guessing it’s poss that the 7’s might get cancelled?

GCAcademic · 06/02/2020 20:38

I was supposed to be going on a work trip to Taiwan next month (which actually has less Coronavirus cases than HK) and the host university has just said that they want to postpone my visit until later in the year due to the situation.

I agree there’s a possibility that the 7s might be cancelled.

HundredMilesAnHour · 06/02/2020 20:47

I used to live in HK and still have lots of friends there. I also get email updates on coronavirus from my HK doctor's surgery (once of the best in HK) and I wouldn't go anywhere near HK right now. There are still so many unknowns that it really isn't worth the risk.

As others have said, it's also entirely possible that the 7s will be cancelled anyway.

Butterymuffin · 06/02/2020 20:50

No. And I agree that the 7s may not go ahead anyway.

lalafafa · 06/02/2020 20:59

My friend lives there, schools are closed until March, she said if you don’t have to travel to Asia don’t. Cathay Pacific won’t fly there and Virgin won’t either, partly to the protests but the virus is the nail in the coffin. What happens when you return to the UK? Things may escalate in the next few weeks and you may not. E able to exit/enter the UK easily.

SpeedofaSloth · 06/02/2020 21:02

No, I wouldn't TBH, I think travel might become a bit chaotic, especially if quarantine criteria change from now.

Oly4 · 06/02/2020 21:11

No, the course of the virus is unpredictable, it could be many months before the outbreak is over and it’s likely to spread

cologne4711 · 06/02/2020 21:19

I suspect flights may be cancelled by April which solves the problem for you.

Novembernickname · 06/02/2020 21:47

No way

MozzchopsThirty · 06/02/2020 21:59

Flights are still going in and out of HK

but I agree the 7's may be cancelled. My best friend who lives there initially thought it would be cancelled due to the riots.
But i think this will put an end to it

If the situation improves maybe I'll go but as it stands now and certainly if it gets worse I won't be
Hopefully they'll cancel travel there and I won't have to make my decision

HeronLanyon · 06/02/2020 22:06

No.

cheeseandpineapple · 07/02/2020 07:20

What’s the cancellation policy on your travel? If you can cancel now with limited loss would cancel it. If it’s anything like sars (which was less contagious), that outbreak lasted around 6 months and died down when the hot weather came through (over 30 degrees). March in HK is reasonably warm but not hot. Even if it’s not cancelled you’d probably be paranoid about getting sick whilst you were there and it wouldn’t be fun. Such a shame, tough time to be in HK these days.

LAlady · 07/02/2020 07:22

My friend is currently there. Went earlier this week. She's cabin crew and they have been issued with masks to wear. Flights all operating but would I choose to go there at the moment. Probably not.

HasaDigaEebowai · 07/02/2020 07:29

Not a chance. Its actually irresponsible to continue to travel in that area of the world for pleasure IMO at the moment. You put yourselves and potentially many others, at risk.

FlamingoBob · 07/02/2020 07:42

I am in HK. I wouldn't if I was you - or I would at least wait before booking flights. A lot of expats here are looking at getting out - at least in the short term. There is a feeling it will get a lot worse before it gets better. The mood is low, its not a happy place to be at the moment. I would be surprised if the 7s actually goes ahead.
