No. I wouldn't travel anywhere in that part of Asia at the moment.

HasaDigaEebowai · 07/02/2020 07:59

You'll also struggle to get a good enough supply of masks to last your stay. They're sold out practically everywhere and places can't restock since most are made in china and large numbers are being requisitioned by the NHS.

Peoplearemiserable · 07/02/2020 08:17

I think it would be a pretty selfish thing to do. You may be fit and healthy but unless you’re happy to quarantine yourself for 14 days afterwards (I doubt that) then you’re putting lots of people at home at risk.

Frazzled2207 · 07/02/2020 08:27

No. But I'd be open minded about perhaps arranging to go last minute if the situation had improved. As it stands I think the rubgy 7s has a very good chance of being cancelled.

TipseyTorvey · 07/02/2020 08:28

Not a chance would I fly to that region unless it was to see a dying relative or something similar. The numbers of dying and infected are still rising and from what I'm reading the real figures are much higher because China can only report official tested figures and they don't have enough kits to test people so the true figures may be double or more. And yes to pp saying you might be put in quarantine when you try to come back.

Art Basel, the international art fair which was due to take place in Hong Kong at the end of March has been cancelled now.

edgewater · 07/02/2020 12:53

No. There is talk of a blanket travel ban to all of Asia in the media this morning.

TowerRingInferno · 07/02/2020 12:55

No

Insaneinthemembury · 07/02/2020 12:56

My husband has just been and said it was fine.
I think it's going to get worse tho so I'd say dont go.

Polly99 · 07/02/2020 12:59

No. Not for fear of Coronavirus but because it might be difficult getting back (if for eg flights are cancelled as they have been to mainland China). It also might be a bit miserable out there- and will they cancel the 7s? I imagine a virus might travel like wildfire in a crammed stand.

LorenzoStDubois · 07/02/2020 13:16

I live in HK.

I have relatives coming here for their holiday at the end of this month.
They will not cancel.

I would not advise people to travel to HK currently.

Things might be better in April - who can tell yet, though?

MozzchopsThirty · 07/02/2020 13:20

I spoke to my boyfriend this morning and he said although his flights are booked he won't go as the situation is now, let alone if it gets worse.

We're travelling to the US next week and have been advised that if we've been to China in the last 14 days we will not be allowed to travel

Also American Airlines and united have stopped flying to Hong Kong

No way in hell.

I think it's selfish to visit Coronavirus hit places and return to the UK.
