What did your parents buy for your second born?

Baby number 2 due soon and parents want to buy us something for baby that would be useful.

Only we have everything from first time.

What did your parents give you when your second born came?

Nothing yet! Due this month and no one has shown any interest which is fine. If they do ask I will suggest money towards the double pram or buggy board, or something like local farm park membership for the year for easy days out with 2 kids.

Also nothing yet but my main things for this time have been a buggy board and a second baby bouncer for upstairs so I don’t have to carry ours up and down all the time

If I am blessed with a second grandchild I'll give small gifts and money and this which I saw on here and looks so useful morrck.com/product/all-season-baby-hoodie/

My focus is on small gifts and money because they have so much stuff and not much money.

VenusClapTrap · 03/02/2020 18:59

A piano

nomorewinedayfriday · 03/02/2020 18:59

*for a little while.
Think it will be a god send

pinkstar01 · 03/02/2020 18:59

They gave us money

BackforGood · 03/02/2020 19:00

Well, there wasn't anything we needed really.
We'd been lucky enough to have been given cot and pram for dc1, and then they obviously were still there for dc 2 to use.

Mum used to jump in and pay for a pack of nappies or something every now and then. She also gave us a little bit of money to buy them some Premium Bonds each.

Selfsettling3 · 03/02/2020 19:01

Buggy board.

DownWhichOfLate · 03/02/2020 19:01

My parents bought my husband a very expensive bottle of whisky. A book for the baby. Absolutely nothing for me Angry

DramaAlpaca · 03/02/2020 19:02

A dishwasher. I was delighted.

Mulledwineinajug · 03/02/2020 19:04

A tumble dryer.

Best thing I was given for dc2 was a kari me wrap sling. Left hands free for dc1

Charis1503 · 03/02/2020 19:20

baby 2 not due till summer but if grandparents ask.... a new cot mattress, buggy board, and id like a new breast pump and some newborn bottles ( leant mine to a friend..never seen again)

Ours is booked... but what about a photo session?

Aunts and uncles very generous so if they ask il probably suggest treating ds1 to something... a soft play trip, day out ect so he has some time and attention spent on him and not all about the new baby x

neversleepagain · 03/02/2020 19:26

I had twins so technically a second Grin

My parents bought 2 cot mattresses, gave £200 towards a double buggy and bought a few clothes.

Raspberrytruffle · 03/02/2020 19:48

I think my parents bought my dd2 a cute outfit to come home in? Same for dd1 as we were skint and out of a job as my bitch , twat, c#nt of an ex boss decided to sack me after covering every shift going for 5 years because why should she pay me for doing nothing? Her words anyways my lovely sister gave me all of her dd1 stuff so we got bags of girls clothes, graco pram and car seats, infact its triggers my memory my parents got us a second hand cot with a second hand mattress for dd1 and dd1 got an outfit.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/02/2020 20:41

I don't remember, probably just a couple of little outfits. My parents don't have any money and I never expect anything (they always seem to find lots in the charity shops though much to the DC's delight).

missanony · 03/02/2020 20:44

A few bits of clothes and childcare around the birth - a rather inconvenient week in hospital!!

ParkheadParadise · 03/02/2020 20:46

Inlaws set up a trust fund for Dd2.
My mum got us a sleepyhead.

Stompythedinosaur · 03/02/2020 20:53

I don't think dm or dmil gave us much for dd2 because we didn't really need much. Both were generous with time and support though!

Db gave us a jumperoo which was handy to keep baby dd2 busy while I was playing with toddler dd1.

Poetryinaction · 03/02/2020 21:27

Nothing.
But we bought a carseat with money from employers.
For no3 we bought a tumble dryer.

Orangedaisy · 03/02/2020 21:31

Much better sling than I had with Dd1.

pauapaua · 03/02/2020 21:31

I can't remember, it was either their pram or their cot because they did that for the first.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 03/02/2020 21:34

They didn’t buy anything for any of mine.

ReginaGeorgeous · 03/02/2020 22:43

My mum bought clothes as my first was a girl and my second was a boy.

CoodleMoodle · 03/02/2020 22:56

Not much, really. Already had the buggy, cot, moses basket, baby bath, etc. Plus plenty of toys!

I think DM bought some clothes, mostly because I'd donated most of DD's, but also because we were having a DS... Don't think PIL got us anything, but we didn't actually ask them to! Most of DS's stuff was/is handed down from DD, apart from clothes.
