What's your favourite Indian food?

I always order a tandoori mixed grill with a madras sauce on the side and a garlic, chilli and coriander naan 😋 Oh, and onion bhajis to start. I've just polished off what I doggy-bagged from a restaurant last night and omg, it tasted even better today Blush the cat is judging me though

I love indian food but my absolute favourite is marsala dosa. Not that many places do it though and none near me.

Me and DH try and go to Covent Garden to visit Sagar as often as possible. Their dosas are delicious and their food is really reasonably priced especially for London. A meal for 2 there is cheaper than a meal for 2 in an indian in Essex

fjreflycaramel · 25/01/2020 16:43

chana masala and tarka dall

LiveRightNow · 25/01/2020 16:43

I actually usually do mine in the oven as it's easier to keep it moist!

Anything with paneer ... Mmmmmmmm

TheDarkestChild · 25/01/2020 16:48

@Mandarinfish

Prawn puree.... oh YES! I’d forgotten about that delight 😀

WheresMyChocolate · 25/01/2020 16:49

Lamb saag, mushroom rice and peshwari naan.

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/01/2020 16:51

Lamb biryani, I also love dahl and anything with paneer.

MinnieMountain · 25/01/2020 16:52

Mutter paneer if it's takeaway.

My DGM used to do amazing cauliflower bahjis.

I've recently fallen in love with paneer stir fry. I forget the name but you make a thick spicy tomato sauce first, then put it back on once the paneer and peppers are cooked. The leftovers work well in wraps.

NationMcKinley · 25/01/2020 16:55

Pretty much everything that’s vegetarian. Especially love Indian street food, tandoori paneer, veggie dansak, anything with chickpeas or lentils.

Mmmmmmmmmm curry..............It’s the food of the Gods. I can literally remember the first time I tried Indian food, it was like some sort of reawakening of my very English tastebuds. Fantastic.

NationMcKinley · 25/01/2020 16:56

@MinnieMountain do you have a recipe for that paneer please?

Nonstopbuttmachine · 25/01/2020 16:56

Thanks @Guardsman18, I'll have a look!

God I love Indian food, I could eat it for every meal. Saag is probably my favourite but I love a daal too.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/01/2020 17:16

Masala dosa
Tarka dahl

rookiemere · 25/01/2020 17:23

Saag Paneer - mind you the simply cook recipe is as good as a restaurant, chicken chilli garlic or something involving aubergine. Like a good garlic nan as well.

Now wish I was having a takeaway rather than vegetarian haggis for dinner.

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 25/01/2020 17:30

Chicken pathia, really hot and sour, plus some kind of dal or chana, and roti or a peshwari naan.

Wolfcub · 25/01/2020 17:31

Thank god I'm making curry for tea or this would be a killer

I love everything but especially

Samosas
Masala fish
Masala Dosa
Samosa chaat
A just made naan or paratha

Nonstopbuttmachine · 25/01/2020 17:37

I really wish I hadn't started this thread now, I'm bloody famished 😅

Our local takeaway does a gorgeous balti chicken korma. I don’t know how they do it, it’s a bit more interesting than a bog-standard chicken korma - more spices and more flavour. That and a peshwari naan. Oh boy.

Chanel05 · 25/01/2020 17:40

Bombay aloo 🤤

Kernowgal · 25/01/2020 17:49

If I could only eat one country's cuisine for the rest of my days, it would be Indian food. Except I'd have to expand it to the whole of the Indian subcontinent so I could have a Bangladeshi fish curry now and then.

A place near me used to do a garlic chilli chicken dish that they called 'shombash' but I've never seen it anywhere else. It was so delicious but they closed down a few years back. I was gutted. Now trying to find similar recipes online!

aibutohavethisusername · 25/01/2020 17:54

Chilli paneer
King prawn passanda or vegetable passanda

Crystal87 · 25/01/2020 19:19

Chicken chaat with puri, tandoori lamb chops. Chicken tikka, chicken korma and peshwari naan. That's what we normally get and share it out.

Wolfcub · 25/01/2020 19:24

Oh god tandoori lamb chops. I could murder some

Nonstopbuttmachine · 25/01/2020 19:32

@Wolfcub I had a tandoori lamb chop left over. I didn't even reheat it, just ate it at room temperature and dipped it in the madras sauce 😲
