Layla by Derek and The Dominoes. A cliche, overplayed to death.

Freebird by Lynrd Skynyrd. Way too long.

Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf. I don't get the appeal.

I know, these might be controversial opinions Wink. Sorry!

I love Freebird, but agree with your other choices.
I’ll go with
Summer of ‘69- played to death in clubs when I was a student, would happily never hear it again.
November Rain- yaaaawwwwwwwn.
Runaway Train- I once worked in a bar and a customer took a fancy to me. He proceeded to put this (!!) on the jukebox several times while staring at me in what I think he thought was a romantic fashion. Presumably he didn’t know what it’s about. Have never heard it since without thinking of that.

Goawayquickly · 25/01/2020 12:42

I actually love all yours!
Born to run - Springsteen, just no.
Livin on a prayer - Bon Jovi is a screaming wall of noise
Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen, I’ve just heard it eight million times too often.

TheMemoryLingers · 25/01/2020 12:45

I'd do anything for love - Meatloaf. Don't like Meatloaf much at all but that whiny dirge is his worst.

If you tolerate this - Manic Street Preachers. I like some of the early Manics but not that self-righteous drivel

Gold - Spandau Ballet - Cliche after cliche

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 25/01/2020 12:46

Don't Stop Me Now by Queen
Don't Stop Believing by Journey

Hate both songs, if either played when I was out that would be my cue to queue at the bar/go to the loo

butwhateverfor · 25/01/2020 12:48

I don't wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith. I imagine Steven Tyler gurning his way through the video every time I hear it.
Run to You by Bryan Adams - stop making excuses for cheating, dickhead.

YouNeedIceForThat · 25/01/2020 12:50

My Sharona- can’t remember who it’s by, just ick.

BGD2012 · 25/01/2020 12:50

Bohemian Rapsody, Stairway to Heaven.

PhilODox · 25/01/2020 12:53

Everything I do Bryan Adams
Tainted Love Soft Cell
Blue Monday New Order (I know, that seems kind of like sacrilege, but I find it boring!)

DGRossetti · 25/01/2020 12:54

Pretty much any song where the lighters come out Grin

Guy I knew at Uni had an uncanny knack of managing to like almost every single crap song great bands had done ... I still shudder at the memory of him "getting into Fleetwood Mac" only to discover it was a code for "bought 'Tango in the Night'" (younger MNetters may need to ask their parents.

DGRossetti · 25/01/2020 12:55

If I had to name one, "China in Your Hand" grates way more than it should (which is odd, as "Heart and Soul" is one of the best singles of the 80s).

ExpletiveDelighted · 25/01/2020 12:56

Just about all of the above plus Hotel California by The Eagles and Land of The Rising Sun by The Animals, both dirges.

MorrisZapp · 25/01/2020 12:59

Don't Wanna Miss a Thing was nominated for a best song Oscar and a worst song Raspberry in the same year.

For me, anything by the B52s. Rock Lobster makes me want to chop my ears off.

CalamityJune · 25/01/2020 13:00

Don't Stop Me Now by Queen

Mr Brightside by The Killers

It's a Kind Of Magic by Queen

I basically hate anything guaranteed to be played during an All Request Radio 2 phone in. You could have anything.

A N Y T H I N G

But people pick the same old fucking shit week in week out, instead of forgotten classics. It really vexes me!

Dreamersandwishers · 25/01/2020 13:01

Wonderful tonight - love Clapton generally, but really?
Come on Eileen - I would avoid weddings simply to avoid that song
Rocking all over the world - pretty much anything by Status Quo, but that one especially.

Sidge · 25/01/2020 13:03

Angels by Robbie Williams.

Come on Eileen by Dexy’s Midnight Runners.

Don’t you want me by the Human League.

Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty.

Dowser · 25/01/2020 13:03

Oops...like most of them but

My sharona...yowl!!!

BearSoFair · 25/01/2020 13:04

Aerosmith - Cryin'
AC/DC - Highway To Hell
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb. SO many better Pink Floyd songs I can't understand how that's the one everyone first thinks of.

5LeafClover · 25/01/2020 13:04

The final countdown.

Dowser · 25/01/2020 13:04

Awww I love baker st
Hot summer of 76
Went to London..fabulous

FordPrefect42 · 25/01/2020 13:06

Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran
Africa - Toto

beepbeeprichie · 25/01/2020 13:07

The boys are back in town. I hate it. I hate the boys in it and I don’t even know them. Yes I would probably get up and slap Johnny’s face too. Grin

RedRec · 25/01/2020 13:16

Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty. (It never, ever stopped playing in the summer of 1978 and eventually gave me the rage.)

Nutbush City Limits by Ike and Tina Turner. (Just because.)

God Only Knows by the Beach Boys.
(I hate this one because the message is so depressing. To paraphrase: Even if I stop loving you I will keep on pretending that I still do.)

WildRosie · 25/01/2020 13:40

One person's favourite is someone else's horror. I like Baker Street and Comfortably Numb for the instrumental breaks but both GR and PF made better records.

I used to like Don't Stop Me Now until Heart started playing it every hour (along with Waiting For A Star To Fall and that recent Whitney Houston Higher Love thing). Not crazy about Stairway To Heaven either.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 25/01/2020 14:01

Baker Street I can’t stand the song it’s always played around 3 in the afternoon on smooth or magic (have the radio on in the office at work) I’m fine with most other songs apart from -

Dreams by Gabrielle apparently a 90’s classic and that other classic white flag by Dido what utter boring drivel Hmm
