Mine literally has a watermelon in it. Next to it is a bag of apples, and 2 easy peel satsumas. Slightly further away are 3 bananas.

Once bananas begin to ripen they release a gas which spoils other fruit in close proximity, and your photo is making my hands itch. Please move your bananas, for the love of those gorgeous oranges and limes.

EmmaStone · 15/01/2020 13:38

Everything except bananas lives in the fridge. The bananas have a huge bowl all to themselves (except DH likes to chuck various bits he finds around the kitchen in there - bits of paper, keys, lego, whatever).

Howmanysleepsnow · 15/01/2020 13:41

Mine contains
6 apples
2 lemons
1 lime
4 grapefruit
3 satsumas
1 plum
1 melon (actually this is next to the bowl as it doesn’t fit)
My fridge currently contains the last 10 grapes and a punnet of blueberries.

Mine is in the top of the cupboard with other stuff that I don't use inside it.

I live alone and I prefer my fruit to last so it goes in the fridge. At the moment I have a grapefruit and a pomelo and in the freezer I have grapes and cherries. I go away tomorrow for a few days so I'm not buying more just now.

Chickydoo · 15/01/2020 13:54

@hookiwooki I will go and move my bananas. I don't know why I brought them, can't stand the buggers, thankfully DH likes them.

Those limes are for the gin, right?

Chickydoo · 15/01/2020 14:22

@damntheman absolutely Grin

Mine has some keys, a spare mop head, a few hair bobbles and the cat brush, no fruit at all.
There's some mangoes in the fridge though.

BeyondMyWits · 15/01/2020 14:31

My fruit also goes in the fridge. I only buy what I will use in a couple of days because we are on a low-food-waste kick.

So the fridge has a tub of blueberries, a tub of cherries, 4 pink lady apples, a lemon and 2 ripe nectarines.

Beside the fridge are 2 ripe bananas - need using today so we are having good old fashioned sliced bananas and Bird's custard after tea! (maybe chuck some blueberries in there too, they are looking a bit mushy)

OvernightBloats · 15/01/2020 17:37

Here's mine. I use a plate instead of a bowl. Love it when it is bursting with a colourful, variety of fruit.

They always look so nice full, but just wouldn't get eaten here.
I don't eat much fruit, I prefer veg and will snack on cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, even a bowl of torn lettuce with a bit of dressing.
I'm totally lacking a sweet tooth.

fussychica · 15/01/2020 17:58

Fridge for everything except bananas and avocados here.
Have strawberries, black grapes, apples and blueberries plus a mango and a bag of lemons for Gin. Cherry toms too.
We have the berries on breakfast most mornings.

Chickydoo · 15/01/2020 19:14

@overnightbloats
Good to see it's not just me with a fruit bowl 🍲

OvernightBloats · 15/01/2020 19:39

@Chickydoo
If I can see the fruit, I'm more likely to eat it!

KipperTheFrog · 15/01/2020 19:42

Mine has bananas on a hanger, apples, easy peelers, nectarines and plums. Has to be out on the side so I'll eat it. The grapes live in the fridge and only really get eaten by the children because they're too cold for my sensitive teeth!

BitchyArriver · 15/01/2020 19:44

Who has a stunt pineapple?

meow1989 · 15/01/2020 20:01

I have a little fruit monster of a ds so we are usually pretty well stocked. Currently the fruit bowl has:
Bananas
Nectarines
Easy peelers
Apples
Pears

Plus grapes and blueberries in the fridge.

Due to afore mentioned fruit monster we cant have ours out anywhere pretty, it's shoved on top of the microwave under a cupboard as ds was 8 month old when he first helped himself to a whole pear and demolished it so to make the fruit last more than an hour that's where it 's semi hidden.

Mama1980 · 15/01/2020 21:39

My children demolish fruit,I can never keep enough in but at the moment we have : kiwis, plums, pears, grapefruits, lemons, and clementines in the fruit bowl
Blueberries and passion fruit in the fridge,

hookiwooki · 15/01/2020 21:52

I came back hoping for an update on the location of the bananas Grin

DM always has a beautifully stocked fruit bowl and it's free game. Unfortunately everything is always shrivelled and wrinkly (if not a bit furry on the underside) because she keeps her bananas in the bowl. It upsets me because it's such an unnecessary waste.

If DH likes bananas and you stick to your new-found fruity ways, you can get a banana tree for the purpose of keeping them safely away from everything else. I lost mine when I moved, and never picked up another. Handy though if you feel everything should have a place. The only pitfall is if you have loose bananas or a solitary one...

Drinkciderfromalemon · 15/01/2020 21:59

Mine has 8 onions and 4 garlic bulbs in it. Bowl of tomatoes to one side, a melon on the other and a few satsumas nearby. My fruit bowl was purchased for aesthetic rather than practical reasons 25 years ago and leaves dents in everything it holds that is soft #style over substance.

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 15/01/2020 23:01

I thought this thread was going to be asking for pics of bowls. Mine has somehow survived about 10 house moves since the 90s and is too big for my worktop. It contains an orange and 3 mandarins... and a pencil, a hair elastic, some food bag clips and a clothes peg.

My bananas live in the fridge s otherwise they seem to go from green to brown with a minuscule edible period. Apples are in my cool room. Berries in the freezer but they are not as nice as fresh!

Jealous of plums, nectarines and melons - no out of season fruit here and I get so bored in winter.

Chickydoo · 16/01/2020 07:31

@hookiwooki
Bananas have been removed Smile
