Would you buy a bed from Argos??

MozzchopsThirty · 11/01/2020 21:07

We've been to a bed place tonight to see about getting 2 new beds for the dcs
Money is tight at the moment
2 beds in Dreams = £718 0% over 20months
2 similar beds in Argos £395 0% over 12m

They're silent night, pocket sprung with pillow topper
The ones in Dreams are pocket sprung with pillow topper

I know Argos do a 100 day trial but the bed can't be stained or damaged in any way

WWYD?

No. Got one once, never again. Pure rubbish.

happytobeheresparkl · 11/01/2020 21:40

One just bought from amazon as bought from Argos last time and only had issues with the bed ..

slipperywhensparticus · 11/01/2020 21:43

And the quality is bad at argos too I got my last bed through groupon it's not perfect but it was less than 200 for a king size bed and mattress

Sorry to jump on the thread but where would you all buy your mattresses from? I would love to not feel my partner get up in the morning. We have a king size bed. Already have the frame

Onenightonlyplease · 11/01/2020 21:55

I think it's either a bit hit or miss or the quality has decreased. We got our wooden framed bed and mattress from Argos 15 years ago. We only needed to replace the mattress a couple of years ago and the frame is still in excellent condition. We also bought a wooden toddlers bed and that has survived 4 children. However 3/4 years we ago we bought 2 cabin beds but from different ranges in Argos. 1 barely lasted a year and never felt very stable. The other one is still going but we do seem to need to retighten the screws every 6 months or so.

Silvercatowner · 11/01/2020 21:55

Another vote for Ikea. The bed I'm in at the moment must be 25 years old and still fine.

MozzchopsThirty · 11/01/2020 21:56

I need the interest free credit so ikea not an option

They both have cheap beds now and ds1 (15) needs something better and bigger.

I'm not buying metal or wooden bed frames, they are divans

So it's just the silent night mattresses that I'm concerned about

Argos are OK for branded divans I'm sure. Get a couple of waterproof mattress covers as teenage boys can be sweaty.

We have the Premier Inn mattress from Hypnos. I would recommend that. There are loads of good mattresses out there though.

YappityYapYap · 11/01/2020 22:11

My kingsize bed and mattress are from argos. The bed frame was £299 and the mattress (silent night) was £349. The bed is solid and really well made and the mattress is very comfortable. Our last bed and mattress was from Bensons for beds and way more expensive and was totally done and falling apart after 3 years and the mattress sank. The argos bed and mattress is going very strong after 2 years

Dieu · 11/01/2020 22:14

I've had brilliant beds from Argos.
Ikea ones are crap though.

CooCooCoo · 11/01/2020 22:14

Ah crap I’ve just bought an Argos cabin bed for DD :/

MozzchopsThirty · 11/01/2020 22:14

@YappityYapYap I also had a bed from bensons that was over £1kShock it sank and split

YappityYapYap · 11/01/2020 22:18

@MozzchopsThirty if you're going for silent night from argos, I highly recommend them. I was so stupid paying £800 for some fancy mattress from Benson's when I got the silent night one for less than half the price from argos! The silent night also has a coating on the top of it to make it more sweat resistant and when I change the matteess protector, the mattress still smells news after 2 years! The benson's one was rank after a year!

Sleepforever · 11/01/2020 22:20

Ds15 had small double bed and w from Argos about 8 months ago. It is a lift up storage bed. Husband says it was a nightmare to put together, but we are all pleased with it.

UndomesticHousewife · 11/01/2020 22:20

I've bought beds from Argos. Some have been rubbish some have been really good. If it's a divan you are buying get them from Argos. Spend more on a mattress but you can still buy a silentnight from Argos for a good price.

Sleepforever · 11/01/2020 22:21

*bed and mattress

Witchend · 11/01/2020 22:23

DD2 has a mid sleeper from argos. We got it for dd1 in about 2003 and it's still (and mattress) in excellent condition.

Livpool · 11/01/2020 22:25

What's wrong with Argos??🤷🏼‍♀️

BedraggledBlitz · 11/01/2020 22:26

I got a wooden frame and mattress from Argos 4 years ago. Both still great. Check the reviews for the products you're looking at.

My only gripe was the delivery men refused to take it upstairs. Single parent with a baby, that was fun pushing a king size mattress up the stairs.

BigusBumus · 11/01/2020 22:29

My sons bed is from Wayfair and has 2 USB charging points in the headboard! about £200 for a double. Bloody brilliant!

OverByYer · 11/01/2020 22:35

I got silent night beds on my Next account?

ShinyGiratina · 11/01/2020 22:51

As it's a brand, it should be fine.

We bought the DCs some wooden Argos beds. Friends came over, we showed them the room. 3 of us sat on one bed and a few minutes in, there was a cracking noise and the bed frame had split through a knot hole.

I'm about 9st, friends are a heavier build, but neither is massive.

adaline · 11/01/2020 22:58

Ours is from Argos although it's metal not wood. Had it three years now and it's like new.

greathat · 11/01/2020 23:03

Ikea on am interest free credit card?

ByeMF · 11/01/2020 23:09

Not wishing to be rude but if you haven't got the money to buy the beds, why on earth are you buying something so expensive? Just get them second hand. Believe me, it's no fun paying off debt for years on end.
