cat ate a whole tin of cat food

he usually has a tin of food but spread out over four meals, i gave him his first meal but stupidity forgot to put the tin away! It's a 400g tin.

He's currently in a food coma on the landing, belly looking quite swollen. Will he be okay?

Probably have the squits.

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 04/01/2020 10:01

I should think he'll be fine, but he might throw up.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/01/2020 10:01

He might be sick Grin

He'll be fine. Feral cats are hunters. They would catch a rabbit, feast, and then not eat for a while.

JorisBonson · 04/01/2020 10:02

My cat would do that if he had the chance 😂 he'll be fine

marshymy · 04/01/2020 10:07

phew good! i'm sure i read somewhere that cats should be fed smaller meals more often than one big meal in one go, but wasn't sure if it can cause them harm if they do eat a big meal in one go. He'll probably be begging for more food later!

here's the greedy offender Grin

He’ll be absolutely fine, our cat is a big hunter and we caught him outside eating a fully grown rat (after eating a pouch and some biscuits at home). He was very full but fine!

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 04/01/2020 10:12

Most animals should be fed once a day, actually. So it might upset how stomach this time as he's not used to it, but otherwise absolutely fine.

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 04/01/2020 10:13

Hes living the dream Grin

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 04/01/2020 10:16

My cat is an expert in conning us into thinking he has not been fed and getting another meal out of us. Then he steals food, cleans all the plates and pans for us, fishes anything he fancies out of the bin and tops it up with a bit of hunting. Your floof looks very pleased with himself.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/01/2020 10:20

I can't see the photo! :(

AnnaMagnani · 04/01/2020 10:23

If Silkycat ate a whole tin of cat food for dinner (usually get a quarter tin) she'd still shout at us for second dinner an hour later Grin

Cats have an unlimited capacity for dinner.

Lindy2 · 04/01/2020 10:30

He is now a very happy cat.

He'll sleep it off like a cat food version of a hangover. 😂

StillMedusa · 04/01/2020 10:31

One of mine is a six dinner Sid... basically moved in with the neighbour as she is retired and home all day. But he eats in at least 3 houses that I know of. And looks like it... Grin

Dollymixture22 · 04/01/2020 10:31

He is in heaven😊. Let him sleep it off and make sure he has easy access to his litter tray🤢.

Don’t pick him up!

silenceofthemams · 04/01/2020 10:35

He almost looks like he has a whole tin inside him, doesn't he? 🤣

MrMeSeeks · 04/01/2020 10:39

I can’t see him either :-(

My elderly cat could regularly eat a mini ton then con the rest of the family into believing he was never fed Hmm he’s fine Grin

diddl · 04/01/2020 10:46

Also can't see the picSad

marshymy · 04/01/2020 10:46

that's strange, can you see it now?

That's true for kittens as they have tiny stomachs, but an adult cat will be fine to have just one or two meals a day - gradually reduce the amount of food given in the extra meals and increase it in the meal (s) you want to keep, over a period of a few days, if you want to do this.

I have my adult cats on two meals a day.

diddl · 04/01/2020 11:00

Still can't see it.

marshymy · 04/01/2020 11:00

he's all good so far, not been sick yet! Curious why i shouldn't pick him up? I won't, i'm just wondering why!
