I am 7 weeks pregnant and I have been eating fairly healthy. I avoided the Brie and pâté at Christmas and now Iv only gone and scoffed two raw oysters with out even Bloody thinking.

Just wondering has anyone eat anything accidentally during pregnancy? Just to settle my mind.

Rare meat week 6 and a bottle of red. Day before I took the test. It's generally ok this early so don't feel bad.

My friend drank and smoked alot on holiday and found out a couple weeks later she was pregnant the while time. Her son is now at a good uni and very athletic so no issues.
Frankly we are much more restrictive than many countries (I hosted some French ladies while I was pregnant and asked about their recommended food restrictions and they looked at me as if I was mad). Alcohol and smoking would be the absolute no nos for me, the rest I'd not worry too much about.

I ate loads of pate at the very start of my pregnancy. I was addicted to the stuff &
was beside myself when I realised it was a no no. I had a tearful thread on MN with lots of lovely reassurance.

The pate baby is now nearly 6, bright as a button & appears unaffected by my minor slip up Wink

Congratulations!

Vodka

Fatted · 02/01/2020 23:35

I went out and go absolutely shit faced at a party the night before I got the positive test with my eldest.

That I was probably the worst of it. I'd love to say the vast quantities of cherry tango, double Deckers, monster munch and pastries I consumed in both pregnancies were accidental.....

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 02/01/2020 23:35

Shit tonnes of salt, salty foods were all I wanted, ready salted crisps, chips with extra salt, roast potato's the list of things is endless. Salt in itself isn't bad, but the quantity I consumed wasn't healthy.

OccasionalNachos · 02/01/2020 23:36

Peanut butter cups? Hmm

Rare meat and a small amount of alcohol are my only slip-ups. I had a thread about baked Camembert a couple of weeks ago that divided opinion as well. Since the reassurance on that thread, I have had several...

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 02/01/2020 23:36

I also had brie and cranberries on crackers a week before I got my positive test result.

Shmithecat2 · 02/01/2020 23:37

I didn't eat paté/high vit A food, but other than that, I largely ignored the foods to avoid list. Runny eggs, blue cheese, rare steak, shellfish, peanuts etc were all eaten as normal. Ds is just fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bluebutterfly90 · 02/01/2020 23:37

A bite of my DPs rare steak at about 10 weeks pregnant.
Went absolutely mad with worry, but I'm 41 weeks now and everything is fine. Grin

I also technically had a sip of cider the day before I found out. I wasn't drinking because I had a suspicion, but then a friend told me to taste their cider and I couldn't think of a way not to without letting on that I might be pregnant.
So yeah, tiny bite of steak and a sip of cider and I still worried myself silly! Blush

Willow4987 · 02/01/2020 23:38

A mr whippet ice cream...didn’t know you weren’t supposed to have it because of the machine

IdiotInDisguise · 02/01/2020 23:38

A single snickers bar... and got a child with some severe food allergies that had never ran in the family.

I should have followed my own country’s pregnancy advice and stuff myself with nuts.

duckme · 02/01/2020 23:38

All the biscuits. Baby is fine. My waist line is still suffering.

thenightsky · 02/01/2020 23:41

I was first pg in the 80s when I don't recall anything being banned, apart from alcohol.

I was at college and took brie and biscuits every day for lunch. No fridge, so it was lovely, warm and runny by lunchtime.

youcancallmequeenE · 02/01/2020 23:43

Whatever I wanted both times. I'm all for everything in moderation!

SeraphinaDombegh · 02/01/2020 23:44

Lightly seared scallops and prosecco - before I knew I was preggers Grin did no harm whatsoever.

scaredycatz · 02/01/2020 23:46

What's wrong with peanut butter cups tho?

ballyboy · 02/01/2020 23:51

Nuts are fine to eat in pregnancy!

CowCat · 02/01/2020 23:54

Sushi! For the first three months.

Dipsydoodle · 02/01/2020 23:58

Why couldn't you have peanut butter cups? Confused If it's about peanuts it's fine to eat them in pregnancy.

Inthebleakmidwinterz · 02/01/2020 23:59

I ate lots of lambs liver and kidneys, really craved them throughout my pregnancy, nothing wrong with my baby now, she’s thriving, not sure why you’re not supposed to eat them.

schoolrummum · 03/01/2020 00:04

Haggis. Halfway through eating it I said to DH 'take this off me, I'm not allowed it!' Baby absolutely fine. Wish she would eat something so 'exotic' though 🙄
