We don't celebrate. I've already taken down the tree and the decorations. I'll be glad to get back to normal.

Ohyesiam · 31/12/2019 16:35

Me.
Why celebrate the start of January?

WeirdSpots · 31/12/2019 16:36

I won't be

MirriMazDuur · 31/12/2019 16:36

My DD wants to stay up, this is the first year she's been interested. Normally I go to sleep at a normal time.

I've never made a special meal or been invited for one on new year's Day.

Us,
The only new year I ever celebrated was the new millennium because that felt special and I had just left school it felt like my new "grown up " life.New year is just Meh.

Fuckthepainaway · 31/12/2019 16:41

My DH just called to say he’s accepted an invitation to go around to his friends this evening on behalf of both of us. I physically recoiled in my chair. I’ve been working since 7 this morning and will be working with mn breaks until 9 this evening with the same tomorrow.

I’m going to bed. I’ve peopled enough today

NewName73 · 31/12/2019 16:42

Nope.

Had a big family lunch today. The adult DC are off to parties tonight.

DH & I will be settling down together with cheese, wine and the various Xmas TV shows we've recorded.

AmericanAdventure · 31/12/2019 16:44

Nope. In fact it was about 4 o'clock before I realised it was NYE. Husband in emergency dash to supermarket for teabags and milk because we were out.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 31/12/2019 16:47

We're not going out, having a party food buffet just me, DH and DD (5yo). She's 'staying up late' so we'll watch one of the Netflix count downs at 7ish, then do bedtime.

Not doing anything at all tomorrow, was planning a pj day, may nip to the petrol station for a Costa coffee express but that's it.

GraceHill · 31/12/2019 16:49

Me. So much so I thought yesterday was new years eve, went to bed with my headphones and was so pleased when I woke up this morning that's I'd slept through the noise. I was the surprised why there were so few new year posts on posts on social media and articles on the news. It took awhile to dawn on me...
It is just lucky I didn't wish anyone a happy new year yesterday.

Megan2018 · 31/12/2019 16:50

We don’t celebrate it, we had an awful New Year a few years ago where we were at the emergency vet with a poisoned cat (who died an awful death despite the vets best effort) so now we just ignore it. To be fair we weren’t much bothered before.

This year we have a 15wk old baby so I’d rather sleep Grin

Strongerin2020 · 31/12/2019 16:52

I've cooked a roast every year since I've had my own place.

I just don't feel it this year

Pizza for dinner, might watch London fireworks on tv if awake and can be arsed. Other than that it’s a normal day!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 31/12/2019 16:54

Oh normal apart from praying DS who is on the autistic spectrum isn’t wok by the fireworks as he will get annoyed and that the cat doesn’t freak out too much either!

GrannyBags · 31/12/2019 16:56

24 hour flying visit to friends for food, drinks and general merry making. Doubt any of us will see midnight - we are not as young as we once were!

StillMedusa · 31/12/2019 16:57

Normal day and evening here!
I think a couple of our (adult) kids are heading to a friend's later but DH, DS2 and me will be in our pjs ..as we prefer!

Granted I'm middle aged and boring... but I was the same at 18..hated NYE nights out!

Newyearnewme2020 · 31/12/2019 17:00

Low key here. We'll have a curry with Indian snacks around 6pm.
Dc in bed at 8pm.
Me and dp in bed by 9/10pm.

Tomorrow I'll do a small roast for us and my parents.

I generally hate new years, having to go back to work facing another year, leaving the kids and having a birthday in early January so being another year older.

This year I have a significant birthday, I've just returned from mat leave and have postnatal depression. I've got a feeling there will be tears Thursday morning
!

dontknowdontknow · 31/12/2019 17:05

Detest new year. Brings out all my worst insecurities. Have just seen other friends talking about the party they are going to tonight on social media - am not invited and wish I hadn't seen. Feel very low and glad this year is now over.

missfliss · 31/12/2019 17:07

I don't really like New Years. Feels hollow when I do stay up or celebrate. So I basically ignore

I am happy with a day off thoughWink

LuckyLuckyWoman · 31/12/2019 17:09

Been at work all day, working all day tomorrow. Nothing to celebrate here.

happypotamus · 31/12/2019 17:10

Me. I am exhausted. I don't want to stay up until midnight for no real reason. DH wanted to buy 'midnight feast' snacks (I named it that shit name, not him) and stay up, but I can't be arsed. We did not plan anything special to do or eat tomorrow either, but while I was at work today his parents invited us to their house for a roast dinner. I don't care about new year, and am usually working a night shift so I would like to make the most of the opportunity to be asleep at new year for a change!

Selfsettling3 · 31/12/2019 17:11

I have a nearly 6 months old baby who still feeds at least every 3 hours overnight so I will be in bed as my 3 year old won’t sleep in either.

Probably just a New Years walk along the see front tomorrow.

Morgenrot · 31/12/2019 17:12

No. Never bother with it. Usually asleep before midnightSmile

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/12/2019 17:12

I’ll be in bed ASAP after LO down- hate new year! Just another bloody bank holiday- they need to be better spaced out!
