New oven - Bosch or Neff?

fussychica · 31/12/2019 16:04

My lovely AEG oven is taking longer and longer to get to temperature and as it's more than 10 years old I'm thinking it's time for a new one. I'd buy another AEG but they are all too powerful for the electrics here and I'm not in the market to get involved in uprating at the mo.
I've found two suitable models both with catalytic cleaning (which I don't have but fancy), one Bosch, one Neff. With a discount code I can get the Neff cheaper than the Bosch. Anyone have any views on which make might be best/most reliable? I'm so bloody useless at making decisionsGrin

I have never had either of those, but my PiL have just replace their Neff oven with another Neff oven after 30 years hard labour - mil cooks everything from scratch and bakes daily.

NaomiFromMilkShake · 31/12/2019 16:08

Oh and we replaced our Neff hob with...........................

A Neff Hobb....

AlunWynsKnee · 31/12/2019 16:10

We went for a Bosch over a Neff because Neff included a feature we actively didn't want even on their basic model.
Had no problems with the Bosch.
So read all the features carefully before you decide is my advice. I think I downloaded specifications from ao.

TheBoxOfDelights · 31/12/2019 16:14

I replaced my 15 year old Neff with Neff, still worked but I didn’t like the solid plate hob and wanted a ceramic one. I replaced the oven instead of repairing it because the previous owners had cracked the glass in the door and I just decided to buy a new one in the hope that the brand still has longevity.

My dishwasher, washer/dryer and extractor fan are also Neff, now 16 years old.

singleWhiteMale · 31/12/2019 16:20

Bosch and Neff (and Siemens) are all made in the same factory, the only difference is fit and finish. Neff is considered to be a bit more up market so should be the better buy if it’s cheaper and has the features you want.

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/12/2019 16:22

We are on our second Neff oven in 30 years!

fussychica · 31/12/2019 16:57

Alun can I ask what feature you actively didn't want?
My indecision isn't helped by the fact I have a Neff induction hob and a Bosch dishwasher and I'm very happy with both.

Is it neff do the oven door that slides under when you open it? Always fancied that feature.

Yorkshiremum17 · 31/12/2019 17:22

We've got a Neff with hide and slide door. Love it and wouldn't now choose anything else!

Fleetheart · 31/12/2019 17:23

I have a slide under Neff. Am very happy apart from one thing. The grill can only be operated with the door.shut. this is quite irritating and means I fry not grill .

user1498572889 · 31/12/2019 17:26

They might have slightly different functions but the parts they are made from are exactly the same so will have the same reliability. Just go for the one you prefer the look of.

tanstaafl · 31/12/2019 17:27

It’s probably one or more of the heating elements have failed.
They can be replaced.

In All Bosch neff and Siemens ovens you can only grill with the door shut.

babasaclover · 31/12/2019 17:29

The guy in wren kitchens said Bosch and neff are the same company and that neff is just an all bells and whistles version.

babasaclover · 31/12/2019 17:30

@user1498572889 that's not true - we've got Bosch ovens and grill with door open.

TheBoxOfDelights · 31/12/2019 18:03

The instructions for my neff oven say ‘never grill with the oven door open’.

I do though!

RogueV · 31/12/2019 19:09

Neff!

DoloresTheDonkey · 31/12/2019 19:16

Bosch is cheaper but I've seen demos of the Neff slide and hide and that's my next oven. Without doubt I was so impressed with the Neff it's a no-brainer here.

whyamidoingthis · 31/12/2019 19:38

Have replaced my 22 year old bosch with a neff. I love it. Only quibble is the slide and hide door, which I would have loved, was only available on single ovens and we wanted a double oven.

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/12/2019 20:38

Why you have burst my bubble now, I had promised myself a slide and hide door for my next kitchen....I only ever use a double oven!

fussychica · 31/12/2019 20:52

It's not the slide and hide as quite a few reviewers had had trouble with the door not sliding properly and fat getting between the glass which put me off. Shame as I did fancy that feature as I have a small kitchen. Leaning towards the Neff but see it only has 3 shelves compared to 5 on my AEG so not sure whether I be happy with that.
Decisions, decisions!

I have a Neff, double oven and hob. They're so old they were made in a West Germany but still work perfectly.
