Has anyone else noticed that there is a new Quality Street?!

Was munching my way through a large tub earlier and noticed one in a turqoise wrapper that Ive never seen before. Tried it and its got a thick, runny chocolate filling but it tastes really synthetic and am not sure if I like it or not?

Wonder why they've suddenly added a new one after all these years?

Yes, it's a recent change - it's a Chocolate Caramel Brownie, apparently. www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/quality-street-toffee-deluxe-chocolate-caramel-brownie-sweet-a8917801.html

I preferred the Toffee Deluxe! Sad

ManonBlackbeak · 28/12/2019 21:45

I liked the toffee deluxe as well! Hadn't noticed that had gone! Why not get rid of those awful rock hard ones in the blue wrapper? No one likes them do they?

I liked the new one. Quality street would have been my least favourite in previous years but I think there has been an improvement.

Roses and miniature heroes also added new chocolates this year which went down really well.

Celebrations would have been my favourite for the last number of years but I was really disappointed with them this year and they are now my least favourite.

I don't like the new chocolate in quality street.

WisestIsShe · 28/12/2019 21:59

Even the kids won't eat it here, say it "tastes of chemicals". Quality Street used to be a Christmas highlight, not sure we'll bother next year.

releasethehounds · 28/12/2019 22:03

Haven't forgiven them since they ditched the gooseberry cream. Yes it did exist and yes I'm old enough to remember 😠

slipperywhensparticus · 28/12/2019 22:05

Gooseberry cream?oooh that sounds lush

FraglesRock · 28/12/2019 22:09

Not bothering with a tin next year. Everything tastes too much of sugar. They've got rid of the hard caramel, so once the pennies and sticks are gone there was just a massive sugar hit. Unpleasant.
I've said that everyone should just buy some of the ones they like.

ManonBlackbeak · 28/12/2019 22:10

Not had Roses for ages, what are their new ones like?

PorpentinaScamander · 28/12/2019 22:14

Just had to find the tub and try a new one.
I like it. But I dont have the best taste buds.

The blue one should NEVER go. Its coconut and its delicious

beela · 28/12/2019 22:14

Roses are pretty grim Sad and the wrappers are really annoying!

The orange and strawberry quality street are much nicer than the roses ones.

adaline · 28/12/2019 22:17

Yeah, the new caramel brownie one.

It's horrible!

Oly4 · 28/12/2019 22:18

I love it! Also think QS is way better than Roses

Freyanna · 28/12/2019 22:21

I remember this, it was my favourite too!

releasethehounds · 28/12/2019 22:23

😁😋

rookiemere · 28/12/2019 22:23

We were given a bag and I'm trying to work my way through, but the new flavour is pretty rank, the coconut ones are disgusting, not keen on the fruit creams and can't eat the toffees for risk of dislodging fillings. That only leaves the chocolate block, the purple ones, the green triangle and the other new one in the white (?) wrapper which are good.

ManonBlackbeak · 28/12/2019 22:24

I agree beela. Always prefered Quality Streets.

UnderTheButtNutHut · 28/12/2019 22:24

Was it QS or Roses that had the peanut cracknel one years ago? That was amazing.

I love the blue coconut one, they were the only ones left in the tin today so yay for me.

Icanflyhigh · 28/12/2019 22:25

Yes. It tastes how playdoh smells!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 28/12/2019 22:25

I hate Quality Street (in fact we all do) and we had 4 bloody lots of them!

Give me Celebrations or Heroes and day (but not Roses).

I just find that QS all have the same non-descript flavour.

christma5isover · 28/12/2019 22:26

Is it just my DH who likes the coconut ones?
I didn't make it to John Lewis to do the personalised tins, wish I had.

BackforGood · 28/12/2019 22:26

Yes, there was a thread about it the other day - rueing the demise of the BEST one (toffee deluxe) and then it being replaced with this Brownie effort.

ManonBlackbeak · 28/12/2019 22:28

Also, as much as I like Cadburys Heroes its always bugged me that they don't have a flake one anymore. Why is that?

OP posts:
hiphiphoorayback · 28/12/2019 22:29

What was wrong with the old tins and wrappers? I can still remember how lovely Quality Street and roses used to be, it does make me sad whenever I do buy them and the overwhelming disappointment. Sad

The squeak the papers used to make as you unfurled them. The hard chocolate not the soft muck of today.

MerryDeath · 28/12/2019 22:35

sounds vile. all chocolate people seem to be doing all they can to replace cocoa content with sugar that is brown.
