A thread for people who don’t think Christmas is over yet

The kids aren’t back in school until 6th, and decorations stay up until then too. For us, Christmas doesn’t end at midnight on 25th. We’ve still got loads of nice food to eat and new things to play with/ coo over. We’ve still got more relatives coming over at the weekend to exchange gifts. I’m hoping for a few wintry walks, plenty of board games and a long lazy Christmas. What’s everyone else got planned? (I may steal some ideas...)

I’m going to my friends today to eat the family sized trifle I loving made yesterday and no one touched

Poetryinaction · 26/12/2019 11:43

It's the 2nd day of Christmas! Sale shopping, visiting family... lots more fun to be had.

HomeAlone39 · 26/12/2019 11:45

Oh no way! We spent yesterday with DHs family, exchanged gifts, ate, drank etc. Today we're off to my family to do the same. Christmas definitely isn't over until at least New Year's Day! Xmas Grin

The key thing IMO is when we go back to work. I go back on 30th, so will seek to be festive til then!

sockittome123 · 26/12/2019 11:46

Salmon en croute for lunch, making doughnut muffin things and prepping for family buffet tonight.

Waitingforadulthood · 26/12/2019 11:47

I fully agree! It's only the second day of the festivities! The build is great (I do love Christmas) and all that build up was for these twelve days! It's no wonder people feel it's all a waste and too much of your only going to celebrate one day! The food, the music, the games and parties and sharing and fun are set to continue here right up till the 6th. When it'll end with a hint of sadness to put the whole spectacle to bed for another entire year.

TroysMammy · 26/12/2019 11:48

Tidying up my craft room - again. Working from 7.45am - 6.30pm tomorrow. Weekend visiting family.

mamaduckbone · 26/12/2019 11:49

It's only just started! We've got PIL arriving at 1 for the next round of gifts and eating, a party at my mum's on Saturday and like you OP lots of walks, games and films right up until the kids go back to school. I'm fortunate in not having to go back to work between Christmas and New Year though, which isn't the case for many. Decorations come down on New Year's Day though.

mogtheexcellent · 26/12/2019 11:53

Quiet day her playing with dd new toys. Just had in laws over for bacon brunch and will be at theirs for Christmas mark 2 tomorrow. Our decs stay up till the 6th. We don't put tree up till 14th anyhow and it's a real one so we like to make the most of it. After new year I start washing xmas clothes duvets etc to put away for next year and cards come down so it's a gradual process.

Ninkanink · 26/12/2019 11:54

Oh it’s definitely not over! We’re doing the whole thing over again today to tomorrow, with my daughters. 🎄🎄🎄😊😊😊

Ninkanink · 26/12/2019 11:55

Grrrr tomorrow or the next day, that was meant to say!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/12/2019 11:57

Nope, not over! It's not over until NYE. My office shuts for 2 weeks over Christmas so we make the most of it.

We are going to family later for a Boxing Day buffet. I'm having a glass of fizz at the moment, DS playing with his new toys.

Chemenger · 26/12/2019 12:00

Just starting, still multiple turkey meals to eat, then in-laws will arrive for New Year. We’ve only just started on the board game tournament and the jigsaw is still in its box. We’re lucky that we’re all at home until the 3rd.

anothernamejeeves · 26/12/2019 12:03

I think this is the best time tbf all the hard work has been done you can sit back and relax play with the kids toys etc....that's if you get the time off work which luckily this year I have

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 26/12/2019 12:05

Not over for us! Today and the rest of the week will be spent seeing family that we didn't see yesterday and eating lots of nice food!

SeaToSki · 26/12/2019 12:08

Skiing this morning then a lovely hot lunch and a fire and board games this afternoon. We will be festive until the dc go back to school in Jan

MsAwesomeDragon · 26/12/2019 12:16

We're going to mil's this afternoon. She claims she's not doing presents this year, and has given us money to buy for dd2, which we dutifully spent on presents, wrapped them, and gave to her yesterday. I'm fairly certain that mil will have a bag of stuff to give her today as well, she can't help herself.

I'm off til the 6th Jan, and so are dh and the dds. So we're staying festive for the rest of this week and next! Pringles and chocolate for lunch, then Chinese takeaway with mil for dinner. Lovely.

VillageFete · 26/12/2019 12:23

Brilliant thread.
Christmas music still blasting until new year in this house. The Snowman and other festive films on repeat. Champagne, Port, cheese crackers, Winter drives to see the lights, Winter walks, board games etc etc for another few days at least!

Katinski · 26/12/2019 12:24

Even the Three Kings are still following that Star and won't arrive at the stable in Bethleham until the 6th with their gifts....
If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
Let the partying continue!Crown Grin

EmrysAtticus · 26/12/2019 12:26

Been pretty productive this morning but this afternoon will be playing the new games with DS and reading my new books :) Tomorrow my parents arrive for the weekend so more good food, brisk walks and board games.

ClashCityRocker · 26/12/2019 12:29

I've had a leisurely breakfast of smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, a nice soak in the bath reading a new book and trying all my new Christmas bath stuff and will have a quiet day eating nice things and relaxing, ready for various nice things over the next week or so!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 26/12/2019 12:31

DH is usually back at work after just Christmas day off so Christmas usually feels ever with on boxing Day. This year he's off so today definitely feels like Christmas still just a more relaxed version. It's lovelyXmas Smile

FurryDogMother · 26/12/2019 12:32

I've got another 2 weeks of it - DH's birthday is Jan 8th, so we always extend the celebrations to include it. Just as well, as we have so much food in the house!

countdowntochristmas · 26/12/2019 12:33

Today is the first time in years we've not spent Boxing Day with extended family already seen yesterday and run up Christmas. Today is tiding / relaxing day . Turkey stuffing sandwiches and nibbles for tea and rubbish tv bliss . Work tomorrow for me but I've a few days off next week for more relaxing Grin. I think run up to Christmas so busy we deserve a break. X

CalleighDoodle · 26/12/2019 12:34

We have all got the whole of christmas off and we enjoy every day and have lots of meals, Activities and present openings planned. We are having a turkey / tofurkey lunch again today, park walks and movies.

Anyone who exclaims it is christmas before the 25th gets told it is advent. Grin
