Christmas Day, what didn't go to plan? We ended up in A & E.

DH slipped on the stairs this morning just as we were about to go to church.............I knew from the scream that it was bad! Packed the kids off to my mum and off we went to A & E. DH has a badly broken ankle which had to be manipulated and he is now in a cast - fracture clinic on Friday and it's likely he will need an operation to stabilise the spiral fracture to his fibular.
Staff at the hospital were amazing and we were back at my mums within 2 hours in time for Christmas Dinner.

Some nasty bugs doing the rounds at the moment. Couple of years ago it was new year when the bugs went on the rampage.

So sorry to hear about your awful day stupid but I. Quite shocked your friend didn’t say ..omg come over NywY..you can always stretch a Plate of dinner
Unless she’d gone to someone else’s house

Can not believe someone chooses Christmas Day to shampoo carpets 😱
So sorry shristmas
That’s a horrible way to treat you
I think next year you and the children would have a nicer day without him

My oven died, so no Christmas Dinner yesterday. We had antipasti, cheese, crackers, bread etc for lunch, and gammon joint cooked in the slow cooker with sautéed potatoes and vegetables for dinner as the hob works OK. Once I got over being stressed about it, it was actually nice not to spend so much time cooking, it was more relaxed and we spent a lot more time together playing games and stuff, and we've decided that next year we'll have the big Christmas Dinner on 24th, and leftovers, buffet etc on 25th next year.

I don't know what happened but I've been suffering with tummy cramps and needing to go to the bathroom since about 19:00 on Christmas Day.

Finally starting to ease off now but everything hurts.

Only me affected thankfully.

Thank you Sinkgirl and Cactus. I said this year I didn't want to rush him and just let him open the presents when he wanted to, but when the day actually came it didn't happen like that. I will definitely let him lead next year.

I worked A&E yesterday.

PLEASE DO NOT USE SEGWAYS WHILST DRUNK

Hope your DH feels better soon!

@ShritmasChopper, I'm so sorry - what a dick your 'D'H is, seriously. I'm cross on your behalf! At least the DC were offering to help out, but I know that's hardly the point. I hope you feel better today.

First Christmas without my little DD who died in October. Not a word from her dad or his family. We have a DS together too and it was his first Christmas so I hoped I’d at least hear something. Spent the day with my family though who were lovely.

elmosducks · 26/12/2019 13:25

CactusAndCacti · 26/12/2019 13:27

Kate I am so sorry about your daughter. It was good that you were surrounded by those that love and care for you. Flowers

MrsMozartMkII · 26/12/2019 18:45

I'm very sorry Kate.

minmooch · 26/12/2019 21:03

@KateK00 I'm so sorry for the loss of your daughter. 6th Christmas for me without my eldest son who died from cancer. Happiest family occasions are the hardest but in time it gets a little less painful. Go gently on yourself.

Thank you very much for the kind messages xx
