Yep. Makes me feel really old.

I had this weird conversation about the 1920s earlier - the depression, bankers throwing themselves out of windows ...

Brexit Shock

Ilovetolurk · 17/12/2019 20:29

Now you mention it yes.

Just bought an amazing plug to switch on my lizard’s lights when I am not there. Amazing

happytoday73 · 17/12/2019 20:32

Yep... Bizarre to think 1990 will be 30 years ago... When I think back 30 years in my head I'm thinking 1970

John470322 · 17/12/2019 20:33

I remember the hype about the millennium and that was 20 years ago, I must be getting old

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 17/12/2019 20:34

Yep.

LimpidPools · 17/12/2019 20:34

Yes

Lordfrontpaw · 17/12/2019 20:35

Look - when you thought Space 1999 was impossibly futuristic, then 2020 is just mind blowing!

By now we were supposed to be living on the moon, working 3 days a week and have slave robots... all in silver unisex jumpsuits...

lotusbell · 17/12/2019 20:35

Yes and I'm bloody 40 in 2020! Angry

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 17/12/2019 20:36

1990 was about two years ago, wasn't it? Shock

Orchidflower1 · 17/12/2019 20:36

Totally! It makes me feel all “back to the future” ish. Things like 2020 seemed like another life time when I was small. Now bring small seems I’ve a life time ago!!

helpfulperson · 17/12/2019 20:38

I was horrified when someone i know talked about replacing their boiler that i remember her getting installed in time for her millennium party.

Then I realised it was 20 years old - not a bad life for a boiler

highheelsandweathercocks · 17/12/2019 20:38

Another one who hears 30 years ago and thinks 1970. Makes me feel ancient.

ParanoidGynodroid · 17/12/2019 20:40

2020... the phrase 2020 Vision will be (over)used next year, U think.

I think 2020 does sound cool and futuristic.

ParanoidGynodroid · 17/12/2019 20:40

*I think... I have no idea what you think!

Chinainmyhand · 17/12/2019 20:42

Yes, silver suits are a must for 2020. But then to me and millennium was a far off date.

Lardlizard · 18/12/2019 00:09

The worse was the noughties never know what to call the year 01 or 2001 sounded a bit of a mouthful

Lardlizard · 18/12/2019 00:10

Remember as a kid the price song Gonna party like its 1999 and thinkkng wow that sounds amazing !!

OP posts:
anxioussue · 18/12/2019 00:18

That's a very short sighted vision.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 18/12/2019 00:28

“Let’s all meet up in the year 2000, wont it feel strange when we’re all fully grown....”

I hate it when songs talking about the future make you realise you’re an old fucker.

God knows how 64 year olds must feel.

trying to think of other songs talking about the futur and all I can think of is that McBusted or whatever one rabbiting on about the year 3000. At least we’ll never have a chance to get depressed by that one making us feel old when we hear it!

Love51 · 18/12/2019 00:35

I always want to put 'mad dog' in front of it.

Charles11 · 18/12/2019 00:39

It does feel futuristic to me. I’m mid 40’s and am astounded how far we’ve come with technology.
I’m very sad that I won’t be around to see what the year 3000 will be like.

kissmelittleass · 18/12/2019 00:58

Omg yes it scares me 2020 like how???!!! How has time passed this quickly it scares me I'm still stuck in the 90's !!

BigChocFrenzy · 18/12/2019 01:16

"God knows how 64 year olds must feel."

I'm happy enough at 63.5
I retire in January 2020, so that will be a great year for me Xmas Grin the start of my life as a Lady of Leisure

I remember seeing in the NY 1970 with my mum, watching the celebration "wow we're in the 1970s !"
and saying how wonderful the 2000 celebrations would be ....

I remember Space 1999
Our total lack of space colonies and mass space travel has been the major disappointment of this future for me

nowaypose · 18/12/2019 01:20

When I think back 30 years in my head I'm thinking 1970

I’m the same and 2007 was yesterday.

2000 was pretty funny, everyone thought the world was about to end because the computers crashed for a bit.

managedmis · 18/12/2019 01:21

Yup, big-time.

I remember the Vancouver 2010 Olympics seemed years away.... GrinShock
