You and me both!

I’ll be forty next year.
What scared me yesterday was realising that there is now more time elapsed from when I was born to now than from the end of the Second World War to when I was born.
When I was a kid WW2 was history - studied in books but not really real. Now to my kids the 1980s are the same.....

Isn't 2020 the year we get flying cars and robot butlers?

Difficultcustomer · 18/12/2019 06:16

I still remember the 2012 Olympics fondly - it can’t be that long ago.

If there hadn't been so much going on politically, I think we'd have seen a lot more in the news about 'the roaring twenties' and so on.

ShinyGiratina · 18/12/2019 18:57

2020 is definitely futuristic. I'll be planning my 40th soon enough, but tonight I'm going to party like it's 1999. I remember working out when I'd be 40 and it sounded really sci-fi futuristic!

Seriously other than the fact that I've spent all but 3m of the 2010s pregnant/ raising a family, where the fuck did this decade go???

Oh it makes me laugh when I get IDed and I was old enough to buy alcohol before the Millenium Grin

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 18/12/2019 18:58

40th?

Jeez I feel old. I’m 57 in February Sad

exWifebeginsAgainat46 · 18/12/2019 19:02

i heard someone on the radio the other day referring to it as 2-20. which is even more futuristic and weird.

i still can not fathom how my beloved 90s are now viewed as a novelty and are the subject of theme nights by the young. THEY DON’T KNOW, MAN. THEY WEREN’T THERE. it was the best decade that has ever been, stop trawling charity shops for rave gear and doing space buns, you dreadful children.

Yep for sure I said this earlier to Ds today
