If you could have anything other than traditional Christmas dinner

What would you have?

I'm leaning a bit towards suggesting we get an Indian takeaway the day before to heat up for Xmas day.

Fondue

Cheese, meat, and chocolate courses

One year our roast was bad in some way and my mom improvised a fondue dinner instead. We all loved it so much, we did it every year after.

I too would have roast rib of beef with Yorkshire pud. The last few years my son has cooked breasts of chicken wiht roast beef and Yorkshires and that has been lovely. I like turkey, always used to cook it with another meat to add variety.

Lobster, shrimp cocktails, mango salad, mud crabs. Summer Xmas down under basically

@caperplips. Have you asked your Dd what she’d like? It might be nice for her o have this family tradition that was non traditional food.

Lou573 · 17/12/2019 02:26

You don’t need to get one to reheat surely? We’ve always had it delivered Christmas Day.

OlaEliza · 17/12/2019 08:27

I think it might be, we need to check, someone said yesterday they are going to one at the beach on Xmas day.

Last year I made a lovely chicken curry and rice. This year we are having a Middle Eastern lamb and rice dish 🤤

caperplips · 17/12/2019 11:37

@HerRoyalNotness she still loves the pomp and ceremony of Christmas following the traditions each year and the dinner is part of that.
We also have my parents and dh's mother this year so will stick with the turkey & ham.

But one year...we will have something else!

Beef wellington

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/12/2019 11:40

Berrypie, do you have a recipe for that?

Stravapalava · 17/12/2019 11:46

Pulled pork, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, green salad, baps.

Followed by something fruity for pudding.

Or just a massive pile of hot buttered toast. Yummy.

I'd love a proper curry banquet, not just a bog standard takeaway.
Something unusual like pheasant, duck, interesting fish or seafood.
