I love those caves!

OP posts:
AudacityOfHope · 13/12/2019 14:40

That house is my nightmare! Pointlessly large, and what the Christ are you going to do with underground caves?!

itcamefrombeckyvardyself · 13/12/2019 14:43

The underground caves.

Well if I had the money to buy that house I'd also have the money to do the below with the caves

Make a reading room with books and some comfy sofas in one room.

A bar

An art room

A cinema room

A wine cellar

How many rooms have I got left down there?

PlasticPatty · 13/12/2019 14:44

I love it. I absolutely love it.

TheHootiestChristmasOwl · 13/12/2019 14:58

Hmm I wouldn’t want to live there, too busy and noisy and it’s right in town.

FizzyGreenWater · 13/12/2019 14:59

God the refurb is so awful.

Grey, plasticky, artificial, soulless. Bathroomsbathroomsbathroomsmorebathroomseverywhereplease

YUK!

kjhkj · 13/12/2019 15:01

Its also in a bad school catchment area.

HigherFurtherFasterBaby · 13/12/2019 15:20

It’s bland as fuck.

I’d buy it, for a lot less money, and put some bloody soul into it!

The caves could be rented out for handfastings and parties...

Jaxhog · 13/12/2019 15:27

Grey, plasticky, artificial, soulless.

It's a blank canvas! Show some imagination.

Bluerussian · 13/12/2019 15:29

It certainly looks impression and excellent value for money, it's huge and has history. Personally I would be a bit spooked living over caves - I wouldn't even like having a cellar - but I do have an over active imagination.

If you like it, go for it!

Wow - what would £850 buy you in London?!
.......
On the outskirts of London (such as where I live), £850,000 would buy a decent three bed semi with garage and nice garden if you're lucky. Or a beautiful two bedroomed flat in private block with parking and 'patio' garden. Depends on the area.

(Yes, I've been looking, just casually because not ready to move at the moment .)

Or for not a lot more you could buy this which is in the beautiful grounds of the actual home of Lord Bryon, Newstead Abbey just outside of Nottingham.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/12/2019 15:35

Omg fucking grey gets everywhere ,doesn't it? 🙄

kjhkj · 13/12/2019 15:35

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-86407679.html

Or buy the gatehouse to newstead abbey and pocket the £700k

kjhkj · 13/12/2019 15:37

Although that gatehouse is teeny tiny

Rosehip10 · 13/12/2019 15:46

Nottingham is rough

BlueCornsihPixie · 13/12/2019 16:03

Obviously it's going to look a bit soulless, it's got no furniture in it! Its not been lived in so it doesn't looked lived in. There's no art etc

I'd much rather buy a blank canvas of a house than with someone else's dodgy decor, it's not exactly hard to add some life in to it.

I like the listing
4 bed
2 reception rooms
Array of caves

Xmas Grin
BoudicasBoudoir · 13/12/2019 16:04

I second (third?) the PPs who have pointed out that it’s in a crappy location. Right beside the dual carriageway that now cuts off Nottingham Castle from the city centre, and definitely not in the Park.

Way overpriced for Nottingham too.

PuppyMonkey · 13/12/2019 16:05

Ey up, Rosehip sounds like she’s going to make an offer.Grin

BlueCornsihPixie · 13/12/2019 16:06

I always think when people say "It's so bland" it sounds jealous and bitter.

If your not into bland decor, surely you wouldn't find it difficult to unbland a building. Everyone has individual tastes and I can't really get worked up about someone else's home decor.

DingDongSchadenfreudeOnHigh · 13/12/2019 16:13

It looks bloody freezing!

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 13/12/2019 16:14

I really like it purely as a house, but I know nothing about Nottingham so can't comment on the area or price.

Councilworker · 13/12/2019 16:14

Those bloody awful electric fires in the fireplaces. Cheap and nasty and they want top whack.

Oblomov19 · 13/12/2019 16:14

I like it. Ready to move into. I think you could make it warm and snuggly very easily with soft furnishings.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 13/12/2019 16:17

Love the caves.

Think Lord Byron would be very disappointed with all that tasteful grey though.

crosspelican · 13/12/2019 16:21

Really surprised by the tasteless refurbishment. It's like Kelly Hoppen meets Office Depot or something. It could be stunning.

LOVE the caves!!

crosspelican · 13/12/2019 16:23

@kjhkj I'm in love!
