I love...

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen

Once in Royal David’s City

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

If I had to choose 1 it would probably have to be Once in Royal David’s City.

I love the Star Carol, the slow ones are boring.

Chesntoots · 07/12/2019 20:14

Ding song merrily on high
Hark the herald Angels sing (because my grandad was called Harold and that's what we used to sing!)

ParkheadParadise · 07/12/2019 20:18

O Holy Night
Silent Night

DuckonaBike · 07/12/2019 20:27

Oh yes @cwg1 - I wonder as I wander is really beautiful!

But I think my favourite is Of the father's heart begotten, which is a bit obscure so you don't get to sing it very often.

Babdoc · 07/12/2019 20:36

I have too many favourites to list them all, but in no particular order here’s a few:
The Candlelight Carol (by John Rutter)
The Angels Carol (ditto)
Infant Holy, Infant Lowly (lovely old Polish carol)
Little Donkey (always makes me cry when sung by the Sunday school kids)
It came upon the Midnight Clear (moving anti war song)
Oh Holy Night
Still the night (the Scottish version of Silent Night. Our old minister used to time it so that midnight struck from the church clock just as we reached the line “Strikes for us now the hour of your grace” during the Watchnight service!)
Once in Royal David’s City (but only if they include the fab descant).

Fi1982 · 07/12/2019 20:37

No love for The First Noel?? Great with a bit of harmonising on ‘NOEEEEEL, NOEEEEL, Born is the King of ISRAAAAEEEEL’

Fi1982 · 07/12/2019 20:38

Also not strictly a carol but Mike Oldfield In Dulce Jubilo is a tune

Alpacathebag · 07/12/2019 20:38

The Coventry Carol is beautiful to hear.

I like singing Once in royal david's city.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/12/2019 20:49

The Three Kings (from Persian lands afar)
In the Bleak Midwinter
See Amid The Winter Snow
O Holy Night

and nearly all the trad ones.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/12/2019 20:50

Forgot The Coventry Carol

Berrylove · 07/12/2019 20:50

Stop the Cavalry

Berrylove · 07/12/2019 20:51

I didn’t ready ‘carol’ 😂 I’m not sure mine counts

guineapig1 · 07/12/2019 20:52

Oh come, oh come Emmanuel
Oh Holy Night
Hark the Herald (last verse with descant)
Oh come all ye faithful
Carol of the bells
Most of John Rutter’s carols
