That doesn’t surprise me one iota.
As I’ve alluded to many times, Helena.
The British Media and public are a Nation of Tory arse lickers.

chocolatespiders · 05/12/2019 22:02

Sickening

Phil and Holly (election related)
LoungeLizardLhama · 05/12/2019 22:05

Sycophantic idiots 🤬

LoungeLizardLhama · 05/12/2019 22:05

By that I mean phill & holly!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/12/2019 22:10

Not really the same topic but same subject.
I was in my local supermarket and got asked if I’d donate to the food bank box. I did of course. Unless you haven’t got it itd be a bit shitty to say “No”
However as I wAs coming out. I said to the women. If people keep on voting the Tories in this is never going to end. There are too many turkeys voting for Christmas. Her reply was I don’t trust Corbyn either so I’m not voting at all. I could be wrong but I sensed she was a shy Tory tbh. So even some those who actually work in these types places are in no rush to get these cretins out anytime soon.
Her co-worker was nodding at everything I said.

HeIenaDove · 05/12/2019 22:17

Cant imagine Richard and Judy doing the same

Absolutely sickening. They should have refused on the grounds of it not being appropriate during an election.

It gives completely the wrong impression, feeds into 'loveable joker BoJo' and will encourage numpties who don't engage their brain to vote for him because 'Holly and Phil must think he's OK'. Really out of order.

Completely agree.

Bang on!

It’s a bit presumptuous to believe that just because someone works in a supermarket they’ll be a labour voter 🙄

HeIenaDove · 05/12/2019 22:24

I like(d) the i paper But apparently a few days ago the DM bought it. Hmm

l've seen a post on social media today from a newspaper. lt's about a woman who is a mother, who is down to her last 14p. She's bemoaning (rightly enough) how much she's struggling, and how difficult her life is.
Then she says "l still don't know who to vote for."
l am stunned. How can you be in that situation, and say that?! We've had this lot for 10 years. Every year, things have got worse. What makes you think that things are going to magically improve next week with the same lot?
Too many people are saying "l'd vote Labour but l don't like Jeremy Corbyn." lt's not just about personalities, though, is it? (Or it shouldn't be). lt's about whether you think another party could make things better. l don't genuinely think they could get much worse.
The Tories have had years and years, and things are dire. People starving. Can't feed their children, or heat their homes. Foodbank use is massively increased. NHS is being sold down the river. People are dying because of lack of resources and money. Homelessness is soaring. Drastic cuts in funding everywhere, police, fire service, schools etc. Someone l follow on social media has referred a client of hers for mental health treatment. The waiting list is nine months. Nine months. Can you imagine feeling desperate and hopeless, then you get a letter telling you that?

lf this lady really thinks the Conservatives are going to change the habits of a lifetime, she should vote for them. Or maybe it's time to have a think about if anyone else could make things better. lt won't happen overnight. But we need people who care about other people, and not just about themselves.
lt's not just about "l'm alright, Jack". lf you can afford holidays, food, heating, healthcare - good luck to you. l'm not envious. Well done. But a lot of people have worked hard all their lives, and are still in dire straits. Some of us have health conditions. We NEED the NHS. Some of you may not. Good for you, private healthcare is amazing. lf you choose to spend your money that way, it's your money, feel free.
But spare a though for the millions who depend on it. Rather than being bothered about paying a bit more tax, and being ok with letting people die for lack of medical care.
Those of us who care about other people need to think seriously. lt's not just about me or you. lt's not just about people squirrelling money away in tax havens. lt's about having a bit of compassion for your fellow man.

katseyes7 · 05/12/2019 22:30

HelenaDove l felt exactly the same about the 'i' newspaper. l'm absolutely gutted it's been bought by the DM. l suspect that if l didn't find out what's going on from social media, so much would be kept hidden.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/12/2019 22:33

That’s another Turkey possibly voting for Christmas then. My point well and truly proven

BusterTheBulldog · 05/12/2019 22:33

Completely agree Brexitmakeitstop. The world has gone absolutely mad.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/12/2019 22:34

Thanks for the Link @katseyes7.
However i won’t click on it as my veins are already coming out my neck.

Oh and as for that Homeless bloke crawling up BoJos arse hole. I’m afraid I have little sympathy. Like I say people have the remedy in their own hAnds. They choose not to use it. That’s their look out.
Anyone who knows my posting style will know I’m not a cold hearted I’m alright Jack type.

katseyes7 · 05/12/2019 22:52

HelenaDove l saw that too. l might be being blinkered and narrow minded, but l can't imagine thinking like that in a million years. lt is, literally, as Awwlookatmybabyspider said, "turkeys voting for Christmas."
l think too many people have been deluded into believing the "Boris is a lovable buffoon" myth. He's far from that. He's dodged so many interviews, he's been jeered and booed. So we're not all buying into the Boris myth.
For me personally, it's not about the 'party'. lt's about the policies. l'm 61. l've seen governments come and go. Because of the state pension age being raised, l'm still working. l have my occupational pension, but it's not enough. Despite what we're told, a hell of a lot of us weren't told the age was being raised. l certainly wasn't.
l'd vote for anyone who would actually do something to improve the lives of ordinary people. Someone who cares about us, and not just their mates and their hedge funds. l'd be happy to pay a bit more tax to do that. l'm not one of those people who have a lot of money, who don't want to pay a few quid more tax, but who would be happy to let people who are already struggling to pay for private healthcare once the NHS has been sold off. lt's happening.
Apologies. l shall get off my soapbox now.

HeIenaDove · 05/12/2019 22:57

Dont apologize Kats Thanks You are the same age as my SIL She is in a similar boat to you. She looks after her grandchild so son and her DIL can both work.

HelenaDove Thank you. l enjoy my job (l work part time on a supermarket checkout) but l'm tired. l love talking to people, it gets me out of the house and everyone at work's nice. But it's physically quite hard work (especially at this time of year with mega packs of beer etc, and people doing huge shops). l have arthritis and hypermobility. l can only work shifts of 7 hours because otherwise l'm overdoing painkillers. My store have been fantastic, they've accommodated me no problem, and my manager is lovely.
l had an office job for 28 years so this is a bit of a change. l like it but l worry about if l'm not well (like just now, l have a chest infection), whereas if l wasn't working, l wouldn't need to stress about it.
