I don’t know an awful lot about them. I believe they’re nice areas but you possibly have to consider the proximity to shell stanlow oil refinery and also various chemical plants in the Runcorn area.

I’m not sure this would be especially relevant but both Mersey crossings in Runcorn are toll, as is both Mersey tunnels at the end of the m53 which might cause you additional expense if you have to travel to Liverpool / Lancashire regularly.

Hi thanks for the info. Was wondering about the refineries and if they were a problem for houses?

I certainly think this was an issue a few years ago, not sure about now. Maybe someone out there has some more local knowledge.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/12/2019 20:47

There's also a landfill site helsby and it stinks.

Wherenext20 · 05/12/2019 23:42

Hi does the smell affect all of Helsby?

Good climbing on the sandstone, if that's your thing.

Daffodil101 · 06/12/2019 00:21

I would look further afield with that budget

GrimDamnFanjo · 06/12/2019 01:10

DH family from Frodsham/Helsby.
Frodsham has a great independent village vibe with lots of shops and set in great countryside. Train connections are great.

Wherenext20 · 06/12/2019 08:25

Frodsham sounds promising!

Grew up there, family still local, what are you interested in?

Wherenext20 · 07/12/2019 23:43

Hi looking for best areas re houses, dont need schools, how easy is it to get into Chester?
Thanks.

There is no landfill site near Helsby? Also no bad smells , think that is Elton. It is lovely for walks up the hill, small village with nice tea shop, biggish Tesco. Nice schools. Good for getting to cheshire oaks, m56, train direct to liverpool. Bus to Chester every hour or train. Takes about 20 mins.
Frodsham is nice more shops in village and lovely park for children.

rallytog1 · 08/12/2019 08:05

Both great places to live. Good facilities, great community vibes and easy access to loads of other places. You'd get something very nice on your budget.

Frazzled2207 · 08/12/2019 08:14

I'm from nearby. Frodsham is definitely a nice place and easy to get to Chester and Cheshire Oaks. However there is the m56 motorway extremely close and the oil refinery just across from it.
I'd worry about noise and air pollution personally.

BrotherlyLove · 08/12/2019 08:18

I don't know why you'd be looking at Helsby with that Budget?
You could get nice places nearer Chester without the pollution.

Wherenext20 · 08/12/2019 12:09

Hi thanks for all the replies. Looking at this area as need to commute to Ellesmere Port so don’t want a long journey time.
How about Northwich? Not sure about the commute but but looks like a nice town ?

OP posts:
BobbyGentry · 08/12/2019 12:13

Frodsham nicer & closer to Ellesmere Port than Northwich.

Wherenext20 · 08/12/2019 12:59

Thanks, wasn’t sure as Northwich prices seem quite high.

OP posts:
BrotherlyLove · 08/12/2019 13:06

Nice areas around Northwich, Cuddington, Delamere, Hartford or if you want to be closer to Chester there is Kelsall and Tarporley.
I guess it depends what you want for your money, £700k is a big Northwich budget . Norwich town itself is grim, even M&S have closed.

BrotherlyLove · 08/12/2019 13:08

You could do the Welsh (ish) side of Chester for Ellesmere Port, some nice places in Kinnerton and environs.

Whatthefunk · 08/12/2019 13:14

Frodsham is lovely. Great friendly, little town. Helsby is ok, really good walks and transport links. 700k, is good budget for that area. Even nicer villages, are Manley, Norley and Kingswood. All within easy reach of Ellesmere port

Wherenext20 · 08/12/2019 13:17

What’s Little Sutton like? Thanks for all the suggestions.
