Hever castle Christmas walk and grotto (utterly magical)

Ice skating

London theatre of Mary poppins

IdentifyasTired · 03/12/2019 11:36

Visiting Father Christmas at local museum
Frozen 2 cinema trip
Christmas market
Making Christmas decorations

One thing for every weekend of Advent. I’ve cut back on presents this year (told DC that FC knows we have a lot of stuff) so I hope to be able to save some money to ease the January blues. I hate feeling maxed out by the end of the year. This year my motto is less stuff, more time.
At least that’s the hope!

Sofast · 03/12/2019 12:02

We do something Christmassy at home every sunday in the lead up, making salt dough decs, a ginger bread house, some handmade cards. Just one activity each week with a christmas film or music on in the background

This year we are going to try ice skating and having a day out to see frozen two and our local garden centre which is always amazing

A trip into the Christmas market in Edinburgh this week with my youngest and a trawl through art shops for my budding Picasso
A trip into Edinburgh next week with my eldest to see the Snow Queen ballet. They like to have a day with me just by themselves
Then a Daddy/Daughter day out for the three of them while I wrap presents, get slightly pissed on Bucks Fizz and gorge myself on Terry's chocolate orange.
I was a bit upset as both my girls got part time jobs in a bistro that opens on Christmas day so they will probably be working until 4pm. Then it occurred to me how much fun myself and DH could have while they are both out of the house. It might just be the best Christmas in years!

We went to our local country park and did the light trail last weekend, it was magical. We are going away this weekend to a very pretty town to see the lights and visit the Christmas market. We will also do local things like ice skating at the pop up ice rink and visiting our local park with a cafe which is beautifully decorated and currently serving hot chocolate and mulled wine. We are using recyclable brown paper for wrapping again this year and the dc really enjoy helping decorate it using a Christmas stamp set.

One big thing this year--Chessington santa sleepover.

bookworm14 · 03/12/2019 14:12

Santa at school Christmas fair
Trip to see the lights at Kew Gardens
Theatre trip to see The Snail and the Whale
Trip to central London to see the lights
A carol service at some point
Might try and take in a Christmas market as well.

We saw Frozen 2 and went to pizza hut last weekend, and got a Xmas tree on the way home.

We might go to Beamish (the normal bit that is free with our annual tickets, not the expensive christmas extravaganza) this weekend.

We will also go to Enchanted Belsay, which is a Christmas lights display at an English Heratage place, there's normally a small funfair at the end.

The weekend before Xmas we have the village party (santa will put in an appearence) and we are seeing a panto.

I want to do something on xmas eve, but not sure yet. Maybe bowling, as I don't want to spend a lot.

reluctantbrit · 03/12/2019 20:45

Baking and Marzipan figurine making

DD’s school decided to have their winter assessment week the week before they break up for Christmas. All afternoons are blocked with revisions.
