My dc are 16,17 and 19

So Christmas markets, mullled wine, Christmas films.

And our tradition of lighting the advent candles and reading the Christmas story together every Sunday in advent that goes back to when dd1 was a baby.

We've planned a trip to the Christmas Market, which the kids are wildly excited about!

On the final Saturday before Christmas we're taking them to their favourite cafe, which has lovely views over the Lough and lots of decorated buildings.

We're not doing a Santa trip as we reckon they'd be terrified!

Children's RSNO concert in Glasgow.

Messy Church for Christmas.

Christmas Craft day at the museum.

Christmas nature trail at RSPB sanctuary.

Santa visit.

Christingle on Christmas Eve.

We’ve done the school Christmas Fayre and Festival of Christmas music, both were fab.

We go to Mass every Sunday anyway and have an advent wreath at home with candles.

Visiting elderly relatives a long way away for a festive meal.

Christmas shopping with the DC who have been saving to buy their presents for each other and us, will be so gorgeous to see how much care and thought they put into choosing them.

Church carol service.

Anyone recommend anything magical?

Days and trips out:
Santa train
Tea with Santa at garden centre
Panto couple of days after Christmas
Another panto this weekend that DD is performing in, rest of family to watch
Go to see Rudolph float before it sets off near our house

Activities at home:
Gingerbread house
Make biscuits with Christmas cutters
Christmas bedtime story each evening (built up a huge collection so we start mid November so they all get read!)
Collecting ‘special’ treat items to donate to the food bank before Christmas
Christmas crafts and making paper chains

Summergarden · 06/12/2019 07:46

Oh and forgot we plan to go to the crib service on Christmas Eve.

Not sure what you mean by magical OP; my friend used to make footprint shaped template and sprinkle talc over it the night before Christmas to look like Santa’s footprints if that’s the sort of thing you mean?

Also tracking the space station’s official route online that they publish especially so parents around the world can point out the lights of the Space station that they say is Santa.

We've wrapped our Christmas films up and choosing one every weekend to watch. We've been to the school fayre. We're doing some crafting this weekend and making cards/decorations. The dc break up on the 20th so I don't know what we'll do that weekend, it'll probably be wrapping, buying a tv guide and deciding what we'll be watching over Christmas!

trilbydoll · 06/12/2019 08:05

One of the local churches is doing a live outdoor nativity (ie with real animals) which we would have gone to if we weren't going to my Aunt's that weekend.

Got to try and find a decent church service that the kids won't find boring and I consider to have sufficient carols!

Going to Chessington to see Santa because the tickets were cheaper than a lot of other local places and I'm hoping enough rides will be open to make it feel like better value for money.

Yes I mean like with the Santa footprints. Thanks Smile
