I have been up for an hour and a half with my toddler, who has a chest infection. Poor bugger. I am supposed to be working form home today while he is at nursery and DD at school. Oh dear.

Anyone else around?

Yup! Toddler woke up with coughing as has been unwell the last few days.

MrsSiba · 19/11/2019 03:30

I realised I had fallen asleep feeding said toddler to sleep so got up and went downstairs to switch lights off, let cat in. Ended up checking work emails 🙈

Insomniacscientist · 19/11/2019 03:38

Had an overseas conference call a couple of hours ago and now wide awake.
@QueenWhatevs there is a particularly nasty chest infection doing the rounds at the minute. How is DS?

He's just drufted back to sleep but he's not good. He's always been prone to lung trouble and this has knocked him for six, he's really having to work at his breathing :( saw the GP late yesterday so hopefully the antibiotics and steroid inhaler will kick in soon.

DP went off to bed without saying anything & I've just woken up on the sofa. It's cold and the dog has most of the space now!

I'll probably be awake now until I get up at 6.

flapjackfairy · 19/11/2019 03:54

My 5 yr old has epilepsy and is having a rough night of seizures. It is freezing here ( midlands ) so just popped heating on and trying to doze in the chair next to his bed. Mumsnet gets me through many a night I find .

Pinky8383 · 19/11/2019 04:00

Yep wide awake here!😳😳 35 weeks pregnant and cannot get comfortable at all and 3am seems to be the waking hour every night😴 Guess he's just getting me prepped for going back to sleepless nights again lol 🤦🏻‍♀️

MrsSiba · 19/11/2019 04:01

Lattelover12 can the dog give you cuddles?
Things may be better in the morning 🤞

Bloodybridget · 19/11/2019 04:03

I'm awake just because I always am at some point in the night (woke at 2). Big sympathy to anyone here with sick DCs, and I hope those who need to work/function tomorrow do get some sleep. I'm going to turn my light out now.

Insomniacscientist · 19/11/2019 04:08

@QueenWhatevs Are the muscles under his ribs sucking in with each breath? If so, according to the British lung foundation that’s an ambulance job. I’m not meaning to cause alarm it was just the first thing that went through my mind when you said he was having to work hard at his breathing
Fingers crossed that’s not the case and he’s over the worst of it

Preggosaurus9 · 19/11/2019 04:12

@QueenWhatevs oh no. Inhalers helped my toddler last year. We ended up admitted for obs now I think about it. Blocked it out of my memory. He has a nasty cough this week really hope it's a milder one.

I'm awake bf newborn DC2. Love her to bits but by god she is a ferocious little feeder. Boobs in tatters. On night 4 so having awful nightmares and can feel the night sweats coming on. Plus one hip feels quite wrong, guess pelvis is trying to go back to some sort of normality. It could all be so much worse I keep telling myself!!

Kimberleigh · 19/11/2019 04:17

Hey. Im up feeding DD (11 weeks) We had a few weeks of amazing 6-8 hour stints in the night but recently we have a 4 hour stint then awake every 1-2. Ahh well. Some sort of phase I guess. Coffee and concealer are the saviours!!

MermaidDreams83 · 19/11/2019 04:33

Awake here, three hours and counting. Restless legs and overactive brain, though looking forward to getting into deep sleep 30 mins before wake up time Hmm

yearinyearout · 19/11/2019 04:42

First night with a new puppy and was expecting disturbance...not had any so I'm awake for nothing!

myknickersknackersknockers · 19/11/2019 04:52

I’m awake with a throat and chest infection and am crying I feel so poorly with a temperature so I have fully sympathy for your Ds!

AngelaScandal · 19/11/2019 05:03

Kimberleigh · 19/11/2019 05:54

We are on the 3rd feed in 4 hours 🥴
2am, 3:30am and now 5:50am.

HelenaJustina · 19/11/2019 05:56

Been up since 5.30, OFSTED today at work and can’t sleep any longer. Sat with a coffee wondering how early I can disturb the house by having a shower and heading in.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 19/11/2019 05:59

I’m just getting into bed! 7 hrs behind the UK

AngelaScandal · 19/11/2019 09:26

Good luck @HelenaJustina

QueenWhatevs · 20/11/2019 00:34

@insomniacscientist I ended up taking.DS to hospital for his breathing but he wasn't quite ill enough to admit. He is, however, ill enough to have already woken up 3 times tonight and need inhalers. I have a terribly sore throat and ears myself, I'm so tired.

@HelenaJustina I hope you're catching up on sleep and that the dreaded OFSTED went well.

Up with sleep refusing toddler, nothing wrong with him other then a desire to to torture me

Insomniacscientist · 20/11/2019 00:41

QueenWhatevs, really glad you got him checked out. No wonder you are exhausted and on top of that to be unwell yourself you must be overwhelmed. Imo earache is one of the most horrendous pains there is.
Hope it’s something that clears up quickly for you. If not, please don’t neglect looking after yourself and get yourself seen. All the best

thaegumathteth · 20/11/2019 01:48

Oh OP I remember when mine were little ds especially used to have me exhausted and driving to a&e more times that I can count.! Those nights are thankfully rarer now they're older but I'm still awake and listening to both kids coughing....

feelinghelplesstoday · 20/11/2019 02:28

Wide awake here for no reason other than there is some night time work on the railway near by and it's bloody loud! I'm a terrible sleeper
