Total household spending on tv/ phone / mobile / netfix etc ???

WhoCaresWins01 · 18/11/2019 08:03

How much does your household spend? I was chatting to a friend last night about this and was shocked at how much she was paying, we pay £112 per month for super fast fibre broadband, landline, sky including sports and movies, three mobile sim only deals. I thought we were paying a lot but her bill is almost double for very similar!
We could pay less but DH works from home and needs good broadband, sports and movies are worth it for us as we have a child with special needs and don't go out much!!!

Well we pay just under £50 per month for super fast fibre broadband, landline, Netflix and two mobile sim only deals, so your £112 pm looks a lot and I can't imagine what £200+ pm buys.

We are always on a deal and switch suppliers if they won't offer a discount so pretty much circulate round Virgin, BT, Plusnet and whoever else is offering a good deal when we're looking to change.
Never short of anything to watch, and we sometimes have Now TV too but never pay full price for that so it's usually under a fiver a month. I believe they do a kids package for a few quid a month too.

I think Sports is quite expensive, but we've never had that so don't know how much it costs, but whatever you have, the main thing is to make sure you only pay for what you actually use/need and always be on a deal, which means switching suppliers or haggling with your existing supplier.

We spend £46 a month on Virgin Fibre 100, £12 on Netflix, £4 on Now, £14 on Amazon Prime, £25 on all mobiles

Total c£100 per month

GiveHerHellFromUs · 18/11/2019 09:33

We spend around £100 a month on Virgin internet and tv, probably £60 between 2 phones, then whatever the Netflix and amazon prime costs are. If

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 18/11/2019 09:42

Our sky is 75.90 for fibre net, all the TV except movies and sport, the box sets and Netflix package and the landline (and rental) where you can make calls for free day and night alike. There is a current discount on it though. Not massively sure what it is, I think it wipes approx £25 off?

Our mobile is 40.50 but £33 of that is my phone contact until this coming Sept I think it is. There are three sims in it, it's unlimited calls, texts and 1gb of net (we use the WiFi when in and have 50gb in a 'rollover' piggy bank of we ever need more). There is a current half price deal on it at the mo but when that ends its only 48 (will be 15 when my phone contract ends as I'm not renewing and v happy with the phone I have)

(for those with sky, there are black Friday deals for existing customers atm, might be worth a call?)

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 18/11/2019 09:45

There is an extra in ours for sky 1 multiroom too that takes it up I think £12 a month included in the above

I'm a carer and don't go out otherwise so it's a bargain and half for us 👍🏻

cherryblossomgin · 18/11/2019 09:47

Mobiles 120
Netflix/Amazon 18
TV 0
Broadband 20
We cancelled sky because we only really watch YouTube or streaming services. We don't have a TV License because we never watch live TV or BBC.

Phones are the most expensive but they are used constantly. DH uses his data at work so we both have unlimited plans.

WTFdidwedo · 18/11/2019 09:51

We pay £25 for two mobiles, £15 for Internet (no fibre in my area), £8 for Prime and £7 for Netflix so that seems massive to me!

adaline · 18/11/2019 09:54

Two adults here.

Mobiles - £42.
TV license - £154.50/year
Sky Broadband - £32
NowTV (entertainment and movie passes) - £19
Netflix - £7.99

We don't have any SKY subscription or anything like that. We recently did have Amazon too but weren't really using it. I don't think we pay loads - we live rurally with no cinema or anything within 45 minutes drive so it's worth the cost.

LBOCS2 · 18/11/2019 10:00

So we pay:

£90 a month for Virgin with everything (on a deal that we negotiated with them; should be about £140 i think).
£10 on Netflix
£8 on Amazon Prime
£12 on my phone bill
£20 on DSS' phone bill
£40ish on DH's phone bill

I think that's it. £180 a month. Oh, and £5 on Kindle Unlimited for me.

Titsywoo · 18/11/2019 10:03

Netflix - £9.99
Broadband and phone £25.00 (we have a great deal through a friend)
TV Licence - £12.20
Mobiles (for 4 of us) - £150.00

We cancelled Sky last year and that was £92 a month but we never watched it. I never really watch anything apart from Netflix and Amazon Prime.

TheElfFellOffTheShelf · 18/11/2019 10:04

Tv/broadband = £85 + £15 TV licence
Netshits = £0
Mobiles = £56

WalkAwaySugarbear · 18/11/2019 10:12

Virgin TV phone & super fast broadband 350 mps £75
Amazon Prime £4
DH mobile £40 (unlimited data)
My mobile £1-2pm PAYG
Total £ 120ish
We dip in and out of Netflix and NowTV.

We are out of contract for Tv/ Broadband and are planning on moving to BB only for £52pm and reconnect Netflix and NowTV.

WalkAwaySugarbear · 18/11/2019 10:12

Forgot TV licence £12-13pm

Danni91 · 18/11/2019 10:15

Phones are owned so 2 x SIM cards £30 for both on giffgaff
Broadband £22
Netflix/Amazon £15 a month
No tele package

So £67!

No TV licence we signed as not needing one as no live tele / BBC.

Used to be so much more we saved about £200 a month getting rid of tele package and not renewing contract phones. Never missed it either been about 2 years now!

youngestisapsycho · 18/11/2019 10:19

x4 mobile £113.00 monthly
Netflix £12.99 monthly
Amazon £79 yearly
Virgin for wifi, TV and landline £75 monthly
Now TV £4.00 monthly

Celebelly · 18/11/2019 10:21

£40 on mobiles, £40 on phone and internet, £30 or so on Netflix, Now TV and Amazon Prime. DP pays separately for his Formula 1 pass on NowTV. We got rid of our Sky TV package as it was cheaper to get the channels we wanted on Now TV instead and we can just pay month by month and cancel whenever. You can easily spend a fortune if you have the all singing, all dancing Sky packages though.

balleticspin · 18/11/2019 10:26

You are all paying a lot for Virgin! I was on over £100 a month got them down for the same package to £39 a month!

Also Sim only aren't comparable as you bought the phone so have add that into the equation on cost per month unless you are hanging on to a really old phone.

Justabadwife · 18/11/2019 10:30

Plusnet super duper fast internet - £45.00
3 phone contracts - £110.00
Now TV entertainment- £10.00
Now TV movies - £12.00
Now TV kids £3.00
Netflix £12.00
Amazon prime £8.00
TV licence £12.00

So just over £200 a month

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 18/11/2019 10:31

About £130
We've got a bundle with EE for 2x mobiles, phone and Internet for £115
Netflix/Amazon £15
We have a freesat box as only really use it for BBC, Channel 4 and the Christmas movie channels at this time of year. Tbh we could live without the TV licence for about 9 months of the year.

INeedNewShoes · 18/11/2019 10:32

Total of £44.50 per month for the following:

Line rental inc. anytime calls and basic broadband with Sky: £25

Tv licence: £12

Sim only mobile: £7.50

I don’t watch much TV but when I do it’s mostly iplayer, hence the tv licence (though I’m absolutely skint at the moment so wondering whether I should just stop watching altogether to save the licence fee).

BlindAssassin1 · 18/11/2019 10:32

About £100 per month

My mobile plan only, through Plusnet: about £7
DH mob about £20 I think
Netflix £8
Amazon prime works out to be about £7
Amazon unlimited music £8
Plusnet broadband, includes landline and connection: about £35
TV licence: £12

I don't think they're all great value for money. Amazon prime for TV and films is a bit rubbish; anything I actually want to watch I would have to pay more for. And, its only very recently that I've started to watch anything on the BBC again, otherwise I'd get rid of the license.

Whattodoabout · 18/11/2019 11:16

Internet is £25 a month but it’s absolutely shite. It’s Talk Talk’s ‘fastest’ fibre and it’s awful. We should switch to better quality internet but we were paying double with Virgin and we can’t afford it.

My phone contract is £40 a month, DH’s is £50 a month but his ends this month which is fab, he won’t be renewing it.

We pay £8 a month for Netflix, £15 a month for Apple Music and £5 a month for prime.

We don’t have a TV licence or satellite TV.

JorisBonson · 18/11/2019 12:30

Phones - £28
TV - £0
Netflix - £10
Broadband - £18

it's frightening how much Sky / Virgin charge for TV. We got rid of our Sky last year and don't miss it, plus our pockets are healthier. use the Playstation for iPlayer / 4oD etc.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 18/11/2019 12:31

I spend £60 a month for my land line, BB and sky sports.

wendz86 · 18/11/2019 12:33

£65 for bt super fast internet, phone line and TV.
£23 for mobile. Was £39 but paid off phone now.
