Work in Ellesmere Port so where to buy?

Looking to move as new job in Ellesmere Port. Haven’t visited the surrounding area yet but have been scouring Rightmove and am very confused re areas! So budget up to £650k, detached at least 2+ bedrooms, large garden with room to extend if needed, kids grown up so just myself and husband. Have been looking at Chester and surrounding area, and now thinking of Neston/Wirral or Deeside as Chester pretty pricey. Any suggestions of good areas? Thanks

Oldfield for me! It's a v naice area.

Mollington feels kind of out in the sticks

Thornton is beautiful, so lovely. But I imagine kind of insular.

Id def see that house

Do you think the commute to Ellesmere Port is easier from the west?

What’s the housing market like, would it be reasonable to offer under the asking prices?

From the west, you mean from wirral or from Wales?

Re. House prices... Houses don't come up loads in this price bracket, we struggled for a while. Everything was either way under or way over. But that was years ago now. I would say though that houses tend to go fast in lower Heswall where that oldfield road is. Everything goes fast with a big plot or a good view. I can't say about anywhere else and have no idea post brexit although Id always sling in an offer...

Pearls meant from the Wirral or Deeside area. Thanks

Helsby has good schools and you can avoid M56 by driving the back roads. Takes 10-15 minutes to E. Port.

Thanks BlythesEyes.

Farndon is lovely and the area around it, chester bound. It would be my choice, as Chester is a lovely city. happy house hunting xx

HairyToity · 17/11/2019 20:45

I commute from near Malpas to Ellesmere Port. Not ideal but just about doable. I only work part-time though.

I’d choose Willaston and the surrounding area for ease of access to Ellesmere Port.

Rose87777 · 17/11/2019 20:56

Go and visit lower heswall. I grew up around there it is a lovely area with gorgeous views and is a really friendly place. I left the Wirral when I was 18 but would move back there in a heartbeat. Great links for Liverpool and Chester and lots in Heswall bar/restaurant wise.

Movein2020 · 17/11/2019 21:00

Wiseup will have a look on Rightmove now. Thanks

This one you linked to is near the university and there are a lot of HMO houses around there. The white friars one will only have permit parking for one car I would think. The permit parking is a pain
