Peanut butter and marmite. I can't be the only one?

Peanut butter and marmite on toast is one of my favourite things to eat. I've got a friend here this morning who has just informed me that I'm a 'crazy food weirdo' and that absolutely nobody else in the world could possibly like it. Surely I'm not the only one? There must be someone else on MN who likes this perfectly normal, and totally scrumptious combo...

Marmite sell both products in one jar, my DH LOVES it: marmite & peanut butter

I remain convinced Grin

VictoriaBun · 08/11/2019 10:53

No peanut butter and marmite is perfectly normal in this house, not only in toast as I also like it in a sandwich with cucumber.

VictoriaBun · 08/11/2019 10:55

Sorry for the above grammar , was stroking the cat at the same time !

RubbingHimSourly · 08/11/2019 11:01

Try it in A toastie with a smear if Nutella or slab of chocolate and banana. Then come back and thank me.

Oh yes.

CaptainCallisto · 08/11/2019 11:02

Ha! I knew it wasn't just me! Friend remains unconvinced but is willing to admit defeat Grin

Love this as a combo. Thinking about it, should have it more often!

CaptainCallisto · 08/11/2019 11:04

I quite often have it in a toastie Rubbing but I haven't tried it with banana. I might have to suggest toasties for lunch tomorrow...

UNconvinced I should have said..

SpoonBlender · 08/11/2019 11:18

Yep, I used to always do that.

Peanut butter on toast goes with loads of other spreads! Red jam, banana, ground pepper, honey, hot sauce, nutella, chocolate spread, marshmallow fluff... and marmite of course.

Marmite on toast goes with cheese (sliced or cream), cucumber, tomato, houmous, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, baked beans, any topping that might need a bit of salt.

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/11/2019 11:21

The perfect sandwich, peanut butter, marmite, cold chicken, onion and a pinch of salt Brew

dontgobaconmyheart · 08/11/2019 11:22

Each to their own, obviously it's well liked- they do sell marmite peanut butter; it came out recently. I wouldn't consider it a particularly wild combo, it's just savoury and sweet.

Bezalelle · 08/11/2019 11:23

I haven't tried this combination but I certainly will now! Up for marmite at all times.

InfiniteCurve · 08/11/2019 21:22

I so want to try peanut butter and Marmite but I am allergic to Marmite now

Luckily I can still eat Bovril or I would have to exist without cheese and Bovril sandwiches which would just be too much

Drinkciderfromalemon · 08/11/2019 21:30

Never tried it!! Would say I'd go for it now, but am on a self imposed PB ban until I can eat it in a more grown up fashion. It might never enter the house again, but I did the last pot in one night with the salt grinder, a spoon and Muriel's Wedding...

PixieDustt · 08/11/2019 21:37

Ew no! I hate both! 🙈😂

Inforthelonghaul · 08/11/2019 22:04

It’s an awesome combination only surpassed by peanut butter (must be crunchy) and bovrilGrin

neverornow · 08/11/2019 22:23

@Redshoeblueshoe that sounds amazing!! I'm definitely giving that a try

BringMeTea · 08/11/2019 22:38

Yup. Been a favourite for many years. The official version doesn't cut it though sadly.

PoptartPoptart · 08/11/2019 22:53

My DH has peanut butter and mayonnaise. Together. On toast. 🤮
To be fair he has mayonnaise with pretty much everything but the combo with peanut butter really makes me heave.

Neolara · 08/11/2019 22:55

Love it.

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/11/2019 22:56

Inforthelonghaul I agree it has to be crunchy

RJnomore1 · 08/11/2019 22:57

Someone pointed out that this is what once wa called savoury peanut butter!

SilverySurfer · 08/11/2019 23:04

Not for me, I like Marmite but hate peanut butter.

Racheyg · 08/11/2019 23:05

I love it. But has to be marmite first. 😬

NegroniOnIce · 08/11/2019 23:09

Perfectly normal OP. Delicious too. And peanut butter goes just fine with Bovril too. And bacon. And cheese. And marmalade. 😂
