Apparently the reason Winona Ryder's career stalled suddenly in the mid to late 90's was because she refused advances made by Harvey Weinstein to get the part in Shakespeare In Love. Which had been written with her in mind.
Gwyneth Paltrow who was still not particularly well known commercially, was Winona's best friend at the time and was at her home and found the script.
She got the part and an Oscar to boot.
Meanwhile, IIRC Winona went on a bit of a downward spiral (shoplifting?, court etc).

I worked on a film with SC he was grumpy, mind you the weather was awful, and he was not a young man by then, one of his last films before he retired to warmer climes. So yes men can be just as difficult.

Mrsjayy urgh! Catherine Zeta Jones did that on Graham Norton. She was talking in her normal accent, then Graham mentioned about her being welsh and the most ridiculous accent came out of her. It was peculiar, to say the least.

To be fair, some people do change accents almost unconsciously - listen to how Gillian Anderson's accent differs in American and British interviews. And the way John Barrowman goes from American to broad Glaswegian when he's with his parents.
