Unfunny practical joke no-pocket jeans - are these a thing now?

Last week, I bought some bog-standard (I thought) jeans from H&M. They fit really well and the fabric seems good quality, so I got two pairs. I wore pair one last week. I wore pair number 2 today, and tried to put something in one of the front pockets ... which turned out not to exist. There's nothing there! Just the classic D-shape curved seams that indicate front pockets ... with no actual pockets. The first pair don't have front pockets either. I've accidentally bought two pairs of jeans with no bloody front pockets. I'm gobsmacked, and cross. How dare they design clothing with the appearance of pockets, but no actual pockets? It's like selling front doors with fake handles or cars with non-turning wheels.

I checked the jeans in New Look today, and yes - more jeans with misleading appearance of front pockets, but no pockets. How dare they do this? It must have mislead so many people.

Even if they have pockets they are the smallest crappest pockets ever. I hate ladies jeans for this

Petty cost cutting... all that material saved across 1000s of pairs of jeans adds up to quite a saving

jeggings hardly ever have front pockets.

and annoyingly a pair of m&s jeans which I had before now has shallow pockets so that you can't cycle with the phone in the pocket

The lack of pockets in womens' clothes is a bugbear of mine.

I expect it's cost saving but I think they'd argue that in very skinny jeans, the extra fabric spoils the look. It's lack of belt loops I find so disappointing

I had the same problem with jeans from Debenhams. Never occurred to me that the front pockets were fake. You don't realise just how much you use them til there not there. I don't always want to take a bag when I could just have keys and small purse in my pocket. Won't be making that mistake again.

This is exactly why I went through a phase of only wearing men's jeans. Higher waist, bigger pockets, thicker/sturdier fabric, better quality all around. And all from the same shops as I'd buy women's jeans. So annoying.

I dream of the days of thick, sturdy, lycra-free jeans.

Does anywhere do jeans without lycra any more or do I have to buy men's? I'd rather not because the waist is always too wide.

People actually use the pockets on jeans?

Even if they were big enough to put things in, I'd never use them for more than a tissue because I don't want lumpy clothing, things like phones in back pockets look vulnerable to theft and everything falls out when you go to the toilet anyway, so not practical.

I have got the same problem with my New Look jeans! I really like them, but every time I wear them, I go to jam my wallet in the front pocket and... . Back pockets are not the same!!

I get so frustrated about pockets. Dh has pockets in his swimming trunks ffs and I can’t even take them for granted in trousers.

My head nearly exploded when I was shopping for school uniforms in the summer and discovered that now you can buy school trousers for girls with shallow or no pockets. Wtaf?

Bet men don't have this problem

I've complained about this in my work uniform. Polo shirts - no pockets. Women's trousers - no pockets. Men's trousers - LOADS of pockets.

It means I have to wear my jacket all the time, as I need to put tickets etc in my pocket as I go.

And the usual argument for women's clothes not having pockets ('all women carry handbags') doesn't apply in work uniform!

That's part of the reason why I have a mans jacket. Inside pocket and not form fitting. I like to drown in a coat, saves wearing gloves and keeps my bum warm. i don't use a handbag, cuz I haven't got enough crap, essential stuff to put in it, so my purse goes in the inside pocket.

This!!! A complete pain in the arse! If I haven’t brought a bag to the toilet, I have to hold my phone in my mouth or stuff it down my bra. Not great. You’d think I’d learn and not bring it with me to the toilet but I never do...

Did you buy jeans or jeggings? The latter don't have pockets but are made to look like they do.

@kernowgal Would you believe, Primark. I bought a pair, Vintage mom style (basically straight leg), 100% cotton, no elastane or stretch. Deep enough pockets, front and back. Only £13. Ethically scoured cotton too apparently.

Dorothy Perkins Frankie jeans have fake front pockets. Irritating but the fit is nice so I put up with it.

@AliceLittle I shall look in there, although I’m not sure primark goes big enough to fit my (ahem) curves.

My other issue is length - I need a 34” inside leg. Anyway, I’m derailing the thread!

What drives me to rage are coats with fake fucking pockets. Seriously - not one fucking pocket on a £159 coat? Or any of the 15 other fucking coats you're selling? I suppose you want me to bang out another sixty to ninety quid on a sodding handbag to coordinate with said Coat with Fake Fucking Pockets? And gloves because my hands are Fucking Freezing with any pockets to put them in?

As if women carry their handbag around with them every moment of the day! If I want to keep my phone wuth me when I'm in the house, of couse I put it in the handbag I am carrying
