Unfunny practical joke no-pocket jeans - are these a thing now?

Last week, I bought some bog-standard (I thought) jeans from H&M. They fit really well and the fabric seems good quality, so I got two pairs. I wore pair one last week. I wore pair number 2 today, and tried to put something in one of the front pockets ... which turned out not to exist. There's nothing there! Just the classic D-shape curved seams that indicate front pockets ... with no actual pockets. The first pair don't have front pockets either. I've accidentally bought two pairs of jeans with no bloody front pockets. I'm gobsmacked, and cross. How dare they design clothing with the appearance of pockets, but no actual pockets? It's like selling front doors with fake handles or cars with non-turning wheels.

I checked the jeans in New Look today, and yes - more jeans with misleading appearance of front pockets, but no pockets. How dare they do this? It must have mislead so many people.

Yes, I wish they'd do away with the assumption that every woman carries a bag! I HATE handbags with a passion, and they are horrible to try to manage if you have both hands full of other stuff, cross body bags are the only ones that leave your hands free and they give you a rather, ahem, 'tittular' appearance.

Rucksacks/backpacks all the way, if I absolutely MUST. But I'd rather just have pockets.

I don't understand why you need to carry your phone around the house Confused.

I prefer a (crossbody) handbag and I don't care what it looks like.

Much easier to keep all the things I need to leave the house with in one place and just pick it up when I go out.

Whereas DP with his pockets method, spends a good 5 minutes putting his keys, wallet, phone, paperwork and any other bits and pieces in his pockets, before he goes out. And then he has to reverse the process and make a godawful mess, removing said items from his pockets when he comes back.

@Kernowgal yippee - another long legged person who struggles to get decent jeans!!!

I have a pair of Levi 714 straight legs - 34" inside leg - love them but they are getting on a bit so I've been searching everywhere for some more. Levi have 'upgraded' them to the 724 which are bloody stretch straight jeans! I don't want stretch jeans!! especially stretch jeans which don't feel any thicker than a pair of leggings!!! I want a pair of straight jeans in a decent thickness of material which don't feel like I need another layer over the top. Tried Levi 501 but they are only doing the crop version this season - its fecking winter fgs!

@Blobby10 AMEN to that! Why is it so hard?? And yes WTF is with all the cropped jeans around? I don't want crops, I could just wear short length if I wanted to look like my jeans don't fit. I tried Lee, which were shit, and Esprit are OK but still have a bit of stretch.

Apparently bootcuts are making a comeback. I'm not sure whether I'm happy or Confused about that.

@mitziK half the coats in the shops have no buttons/zips/any kind of doing upness let alone pockets. People seem to forget coats are to keep us warm 😂

Needallthesleep · 01/11/2019 16:59

The ironic thing is my two year old’s jeans have both front and back pockets

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/11/2019 17:19

I accidentally bought some from M&S. I HATE them, even though they fit really well. Keep forgetting that they have no pockets and then getting cross.

TheNestedIf · 01/11/2019 17:36

And this is why most of my fashion choice is from Cotswold Outdoor these days.

I've sent this thread to DP as it's one of the bees in my bonnet (not my pocket, as there aren't any). When I first told him about the pocket that's not really a pocket, he simultaneously furrowed his brow so deep even potholers would back off whilst his eyebrows went all "Penfold" as he disbelievingly enquired "What do you mean?".

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/11/2019 19:21

That's why I bought a men's outdoor jacket.
10 pockets of different sizes. Even my kindle and tablet fit in.

My "lady''s" parka has 4: two at the sides, an inside pocket for a small mobile and another inside one my purse does not fit in.

I don't understand why you need to carry your phone around the house
So that I can pick it up when it rings without a mad dash jpstairs/downstairs and having to leave whatever I'm doing.

I wear mens and take them up as I'm a shorty, I can't stand the lack of pockets in women's clothes.

MissConductUS · 01/11/2019 19:32

Lands' Ends women's jeans have lovely, functional pockets. Their women's jackets and coats have loads of brilliant pockets as well.

unfathomablefathoms · 01/11/2019 19:37

I made this mistake once. I always check now. Jeans without pockets are useless.

ColdRainAgain · 01/11/2019 20:22

I have been known to cut open pockets. I have trousers and jackets which had functional pockets which were then sewn up. Wtf????

AwdBovril · 01/11/2019 20:36

Seasalt & Land's End do trousers/jeans with decent pockets, you say? Glory be, I'm going shopping! (I'm 5'3" so men's clothes aren't really an option. )
