Does anyone celebrate Halloween after the day too?

I only ask, as we are really busy before it, so will only have Time for crafts and films after it. Does anyone else do this?

It’s Samhain, or ‘All Souls’ Eve on October 31st and ‘All Souls’ Day’ on November 1st, so you get 2 days anyhow. 💀👻🎃. Enjoy whatever and whenever you mark the occasion.

PerspicaciaTick · 24/10/2019 22:45

We celebrate it for about 2 hours on 31st Oct until the last of the smaller trick or treaters have knocked. Decorations down and it's all over by bedtime.

SenecaFalls · 24/10/2019 22:50

No. I'm in the US. Everything here focuses on the 31st.

No but if it's just you and your kids then it's nobody else's business what you do.the day after😀
Many people do Xmas early or late if it suits their circumstances so what's the difference?

Greenbutterlfy566 · 24/10/2019 23:07

Thanks everyone, mixed responses.

@rosamundrose1998 stop spamming the boards with your questionnaire.

OP, do you not have any time in the days beforehand? If your children are young then you might get away with it but otherwise I'd do it beforehand.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 24/10/2019 23:33

Has anyone been watching films and doing crafts already?

31st is Hallowe'en, 1st is actually All Saints' and 2nd is All Souls'. I say this with precise pedantry as the 1st is my church's patronal feast so it's a big deal for my family!

So no, we don’t "do" Halloween on any other day than the 31st, but that’s just us and you do you, OP! No reason you shouldn’t if you want to. We all celebrate these things in our own ways!

AcrossthePond55 · 25/10/2019 00:56

Halloween on the 31st. Dia de Muertos the next day/evening. It's not as big a 'thing' where I live now, but when I lived in So Cal it was an all day/evening celebration.

HirplesWithHaggis · 25/10/2019 01:00

Where I live now, Hallowe'en is celebrated on the last Friday of October. So, today.

Ragwort · 25/10/2019 06:56

So long as you are not going Trick or Treating I don't suppose it really matters when you watch films or do your crafts, personally I have never 'celebrated' Halloween.

DappledThings · 25/10/2019 07:48

Never done anything for it at all. DC will make a few glittery spiders and have a party at nursery in the 31st which this year is one of their days there.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 25/10/2019 07:57

Weve done Halloween on different dates to incorporate other children for example or if it falls (as it usually does) on a school day

Obviously when the children were little and went trick or treating that was on the 31st only

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 25/10/2019 07:58

We do a lot of games, watch films, high tea (we decorated cupcakes when the children were younger)

Greenbutterlfy566 · 25/10/2019 10:12

Thanks all, I suppose it won’t harm a few days after it aslong as not trick or treating.

Hirples, do you live in Kilmarnock? Today is Killieween.🤣

Greenbutterlfy566 · 25/10/2019 11:17

Killieween?

OP posts:
Lessstressedhemum · 25/10/2019 12:05

Hallowe'en in Kilmarnock, Green. Around here Kilmarnock is affectionately known as Killie. Hallowe'en is held on the last Friday in October in Kilmarnock, regardless of the date😁

SpiderCharlotte · 25/10/2019 12:08

@Lessstressedhemum As a 52 year old Glaswegian, I'm embarrassed to say that I never knew this!! My friend in Killie put a FB on wishing everyone a Happy Killieween. I just thought she'd been on the sherry a bit early. 👹

Lessstressedhemum · 25/10/2019 12:13

One of mine did, too,Spider, that's what reminded me that this was the last Friday in October.

Tana433 · 25/10/2019 12:37

@SpiderCharlotte I love that you have friends who your first thought would be that they have been on the sherry early!! We all need friends like that! Ive never heard of Killieween either.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 25/10/2019 14:14

Ah I see
