Crumpets.

How do you eat yours? I normally like them well done, with loads of real butter. Today though, I buttered, marmite, mature chedder then back under the grill and they were bloody amazing. I've not had crumpets in years, but I can see a new food habit forming.

Any other tasty toppings I haven't thought of?

They've started doing square ones now to fit in the toaster.
I love the way butter drips through a crumpet.

I like my crumpets when toasted on a coal fire on a toasting fork

Has to be savoury, not sweet.
Just butter or butter and melted Cheddar
But totally yummy is Primula Cheese & Ham spread (lots of it!)

Me and dp are now in the kitchen making crumpets for supper!!👌

Butter and Gentleman's Relish.

Butter and marmite. Then I put them upside down on the plate and squish some of the buttery marmitey goodness on to the plate, then I eat the top layer off the crumpet, then rub the middle bit into the buttery marmitey plate and eat that, then rub the base of the crumpet in any leftover buttery bits and eat that. I have always done this technique, it does lead to very greasy fingers though.

I've bought some from Tesco to smuggle home to Germany. they do not exist over there.

I think I'm going to have some more. But I don't think I can bring myself to have a different topping!

Sour dough crumpets with lemon curd.

Eggy crumpets are 👌 like eggy bread but with Crumpets. Some hot sauce on the side, and crispy crispy bacon.

Also butter, butter and more butter.

Have them with boiled eggs, as well as soldiers. Spoon loads of yolk onto your buttered crumpet so it oozes into the holes. Hmmmm

Filthy chocolate spread for me. Never tried a savoury topping but I might give cheese and marmite a go.

Cathedral City and a drizzle of Worcestershire sauce, grilled until it’s bubbling. Yum!

Peanut butter with sliced banana..

DS (7) loves them with nutella. Me, I like a smothering of nutella or strawberry jam. Crumpets taste of nothing (I'm sorry it's true!) so butter alone doesn't do it for me.

Mix soft butter and marmite together and spread generously.

I love crumpets and eat them regularly.
I love them well cooked on the top, but I never turn them over to cook the underside (I prefer them softer underneath). I put lots of butter on, but no other toppings.

how has noone said golden syrup.people people people you need to get on that.first loads of butter than golden syrup till its dripping though the whole leaving pools of syrup and butter to mop up as you go!

and asda have brought out ghost shaped ones for halloween :D

I live in Japan (where crumpets are obviously not really part of the food culture) and we Brits have a "crumpet Watch" whereby we inform each other of the appearance of crumpets in the foreign food section of selected supermarkets!

I eat mine with butter and Marmite, or butter and maple syrup

I eat them most days for brunch. I have them crispy ( through the toaster twice). Plenty of real butter, so it oozes through and then I either have it like that or with peanut butter or marmite. I quite often have one of each.

Always toasted with either:

• Butter and honey - butter definitely needs to be oozing
• Butter and jelly/jam
• Crumpet French toast with either Nutella or cinnamon sugar
• Poached egg, hollandaise sauce and salmon
• Salmon and cream cheese
• Yoghurt, honey and mixed berries
