So i went to the shops today and bought myself a lovely jumper. I have bought myself much clothes as im trying to lose weight and have been skint but i decided to treat myself and im feeling kinda low recently. After i bought jumper, i went to another store, i was buying heavy things so i put the bag on the hook. Bought heavy things, went back to car, put things in the boot, put trolley back and drove off. Went home and left everything in the boot. Felt happy that i had a successful shopping trip. Later went to car and realised there was no bag. Confused looked everywhere in car and still couldnt find it. Blush then stopped for a minute and realised i left it on the trolley. Went back to store to ask if anyone handed in but no one has. Sad im so annoyed with myself. I get a good enough sleep and yet im a total eejit. Ive wasted money and have no lovely jumper. I know this is a trivial thing and some people are going through some hard times but am i only person who has ever done this?

Yup I'm the world's worst for being absentminded (running watch in the fridge, car keys in the wheeliebin, my fave summer hat left under the seat of the airplane and so it goes on....)

I know we're not meant to but I wish I could buy you that jumper, it's a horrible feeling losing something you have only just bought and looking forward to wearing Sad

Starstruck2020 · 15/10/2019 22:00

On no! I once lost a load of gourmet sausages and hamburgers that I left in the trolley Shock

My brother used to be a trolley boy when he was a teenager. He used to talk about all the things he’d find in trolleys..... you’re not alone

smemorata · 15/10/2019 22:00

Commiserations. I drove off with a bag of shopping on the roof of a car once.

Fannybawshasmerethanme · 15/10/2019 22:01

Thank you @daisychain, i cried when i realised which sounds so silly because i look at other threads and some people have such struggles going on but its probably not the jumper, its the fact i was so careless and stupid. Ive been really down and this has made me feel worse. I dont even have an excuse, i wasnt distracted with children or sleep deprived.

Yes, pretty much the same. Bought a top while shopping in a supermarket. Checkout put it in a desperate bag, hang it on hook on trolley. Leave it there

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 15/10/2019 22:02

No not alone Fannybaws... have done it before too! However, just to right balance in the Universe, I have sometimes accidently left with free loo roll as I hang it on there too!
Before you start witches, I am very careful not to do it now .

Fannybawshasmerethanme · 15/10/2019 22:03

@Starbucks im glad im not the only one! I hope who ever has my lovely jumper appreciates it!

@smemorata sorry but that made me laugh Grin

Oh no. You poor thing. I understand the frustration. Just this monday I bought DD the Avengers Endgame dvd. I thought I put it in one of the many bags in sainsburys and was so angry with myself when I realised I had actually seen it on the side of the trolley and meant to bag it but alas dickhead here didn't! £13 down the drain and no treat for DD.

Sparrowlegs248 · 15/10/2019 22:13

@Andahelterskelterroundmylittle I left with several "free" new baby clothes once. In my defence, I had a 3 week old strapped to me (and so couldn't see that I'd hung them there) and an 18 month old in the seat too. I think it was my first attempt at shopping with both of them.

chocodrops · 15/10/2019 22:14

I once left a supermarket with my handbag still in the kid seat of the trolley. I'd put it back in the trolley park and everything. Thankfully it was still there when I rushed back 30 min later 🙈 This was well before kids so no excuses!

I also left the only bunch of flowers DH has ever bought me on a train 🤦‍♀️

Sorry about your jumper 🌸

Fannybawshasmerethanme · 15/10/2019 22:14

I wonder who gets all these free things? I cant say ive ever come across free shopping bags?

I bought a jacket for I think about £100 from Whistles about 8 years ago.
Sat on one of the foldy down seats on the tube & tucked the bag under my seat. Of course I forgot the fucking thing when I got off.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so mad at myself!

ladyratterley · 15/10/2019 22:18

I’d love to know who got my jacket @Fannybawshasmerethanme!
I put a lost property claim into TFL, but obviously never saw it again.

Biffsboys · 15/10/2019 22:21

I left my handbag on trolley hook at Tesco . I was lucky - someone handed it in to customer services.

My adult dd left £500 worth of Christmas presents in a shop one year...

Rang the next day and a cleaner had handed them in!!

Fannybawshasmerethanme · 15/10/2019 22:25

@ladyratterley i dont blame you, when i read that i felt angry for you.

I was really annoyed with myself earlier but realising im not the only person to have done this makes me feel a tad better.

I've gone shopping, put the bags in the back seat of the car. Get out unpack shopping, find lots of things missing which I'm sure i bought.
Weeks or even months later i find a broccoli, apples even eggs under the driver's seat of the car after having fallen out of the grocery shopping bag and rolled under my seat whilst driving home. Grin

MrsPatrickDempsey · 15/10/2019 22:28

I had one set - loved them but found that they started to clump after a couple of weeks. I couldn't justify the time or expense to have them done every few weeks (wish I could though)

Pigletthedog · 15/10/2019 22:31

Not quite the same but annoying just the same. When I was younger I used to portion my wages into envelopes to help me budget through the month. Kept the envelopes in a drawer of my chest of drawers. Had a big clear out one day, took loads of old clothes to the tip .....can you see where I'm going with this?
Yes. I took £150 cash in an envelope to the tip. Angry

Inthenewsagain · 15/10/2019 22:33

Oh OP really feel for you, wish it would reappear. You never know, it may yet be handed in?

Aberhonddu · 15/10/2019 22:44

I've done the same, I was on my way to visit my son and daughter in law, I bought a beautiful jumper, got to their house and realised I'd left it on the hook on the toilet door in the service station. You're not alone

YaySeptember · 15/10/2019 22:58

Yes, I have. We spent the day in York about a year or two ago, I don't remember what for; possibly my birthday or the railway museum for ds or an Xmas market or something. Anyway, we spent a fortune on 4 blocks of fancy cheese. It was money we didn't really have but we wanted to treat ourselves to cheese and crackers later on and were really looking forward to it. Anyway, I left them in or near the toilets in York railway station so we never got to eat them. £20 or thereabouts wasted. Sad

springydaff · 15/10/2019 23:01

The worst is when I lose something vintage - never to be replaced, dearly loved. That hurts like fuck.

I've left washing powders - whites and coloureds - on the hook of the trolley. Realised once I'd packed the kids into the car, dashed back, gone. That hurt, I was a single parent and really strapped for cash.

But perhaps it's karma bcs I found a Cashmere sweater in a Harrods bag in Knightsbridge when I was about 20. It was not a good colour - a kind of acid orange - but I kept it - "they're rich, they won't miss it" I thought. That has tortured me ever since.

So be assured that karma gets people in the end.
