What is the most disgusting thing you have knowingly eaten?

On the back of my thread in AIBU and the amount of posters saying what I ate was disgusting (re-heated 4 day old takeaway)

It got me thinking that the worst thing I knowingly ate was cake made with flour that was crawling with flour mites.
I was married to DH #1 at the time and he fancied cake.
Young and eager to please I got all the ingredients out the cupboard and the flour was crawling
I did point this out to him but his response was cooking will kill them.
We enjoyed our flour mite cake and laughed about it for years (until I divorced him)

I’m similar with leftovers, most home cooked things are good for a week if nuked in the microwave, I was on your side with the takeaway! Possibly a gummy sweet aged 12, we had been trick or treating and it had been chucked around the room and covered in fluff and dust. The person who ate it got all of the Maltesers so I did

sea cucumber. I'd thought cucumber? I like cucumber. But a sea cucumber is a bloody slug.

MaisyMary77 · 10/10/2019 17:14

Snails.

Slimy, yet satisfying....(according to DD)

Not sure I could bring myself to eat them again. 🤢

An Anchovy.
I thought it was a green bean that I picked off the top of a pizza.
My mouth was never so horrified.
I have never eaten another one.

Fiacla · 11/10/2019 00:05

Tripe cooked in milk. Just say no.

Blibbyblobby · 11/10/2019 00:09

Probably natto - fermented soy beans. My Japanese friend explained natto as "we take some beans... and then we put them over there and leave them". All the people in the bar stopped to watch me try ...

Though TBH cheese is pretty grim when you think about it - milk gone rotten til it's solid. And I LOVE cheese!

Hairsprayqueeen · 11/10/2019 00:13

I threw away some one-off guacamole. Day or so later realised a box I'd chucked (in same bin) still had some instructions in it that I needed. So I went into the bin and got the box out, and it had guacamole on it... licked it off... I.. .. dont know why......

AthollPlace · 11/10/2019 00:17

I like snails and winkles and similar molluscs. I also love anchovies on toast or pizza. Black pudding is delicious even though it’s basically cooked blood. DH is aghast at my love of eating meat dripping on bread. One of my favourite breakfasts is boiled fish and I dip bread in the salty cooking water. I do however draw the line at soft fish roe, which is utterly disgusting and I found out afterwards it’s the ball sack of the male fish. I do not recommend eating fish sperm, I felt sick for days.

Squid stewed in it's own ink. A hideous tentacley attack on my eyes, nose and tastebuds. My then boyfriend ate my portion as well as his own to avoid offending our hosts. I had to marry him after that.

Willicks. Or whelks as they're known amongst people what speak better English than what we did.

I collected them and I ate them. Loads of them. But I didnt like them. I put it down to my body craving something not readily available in my shit 1970s diet.Blush

Squid in ink is lovely!

As a teenager in Germany I ate something that the family I was staying with pronounced something like KVAG. Just like that, really loud, KVAAAG. I still don't know what it was. Something that looked like white cream but tasted like death. I even asked them what it was and they all just laughed and went KVAAAG IST KVAAAG. KVAAG IST GUT. KVAAAG. So that was the most disgusting thing I've eaten but I don't know what it was.

RavenLG · 11/10/2019 01:45

A mouthful of pot noodle that had been "cooked" with hot tap water. I was a student and too hungover to move out of my bedroom ... needless to say it wasn't cooked.
2 day old McDonald's Big Mac again also a student. It wasn't actually too bad after a reheat which is very worrying lol.

DioneTheDiabolist · 11/10/2019 03:01

I love frogs' legs.
For me they are a delicious, seldom acquired delicacy.

Greatnorthwoods · 11/10/2019 03:30

A military ration pack that was 10 years older than me, (I was 19)

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 11/10/2019 04:28

Ah, the Germans and their love of Quark. Grin My German relations would be happy to eat creamy sponge cakes for breakfast but when eating berries on their own, the white stuff that tastes like death is ever present.
Great description btw. I remember the excitement then crushing, crushing disappointment at my first taste of KVAARG.
Your post made me laugh, thank you

Most disgusting thing I have eaten, possibly the prrawn salad that forgot to go in the fridge overnight. Diced with death that breakfast time. (I was fine)
Or nasty pickly, intestiney type things. They weren't cool .

Lllot5 · 11/10/2019 04:49

Jaffa cake.
