What should I spend my John Lewis voucher on?

Got £140 in JL vouchers for my birthday, which was in May and I still can't decide.

I can afford to top them up a bit. Had a mooch round last week and everything I wanted was £££ . I'm rubbish at spending money on myself.

New coat?
Leather jacket?
Boots?
Whole new set of make up?
Nice new underwear?
Fluffy new towels and posh bubble bath?

embarrassedabout · 08/10/2019 19:37

Can you buy yourself one of those experience day boxes?

Livelikejackandsally · 08/10/2019 19:38

New coat?
Maybe ease in with a few little things if it feels too much
Some fancy chocolates, a nice book etc

They do facials etc at most of them - would that feel better if it's more of a pampering experience?

What do you like I guess is the main question. JL is a massive shop!

I love their bedding. Good quality & lasts years.

QuaterMiss · 08/10/2019 19:45

A KitchenAid something in the prettiest colour.

An old school pure wool blanket. Or a wool duvet.

Tom Ford cosmetics.

I’m sorry to say on the rare occasions I visit a JL I tend to linger around the tea towels and dish cloths. £140 worth might be a little excessive ...

Sports and leisure section is good if you have relevant hobbies, I love their haberdashery for yarn and fabrics.

Nice shoes, they stock lots of brands, a new handbag, winter coat.

Coffee machine or gadget, I find John Lewis really reasonably priced for electronics, often cheaper than pc world.

The website is great and much more choice than in store.

wonderstuff · 08/10/2019 19:58

Kitchen Aid was my first thought, but I need a lot more than my voucher and beautiful though they are they are very expensive (though if anyone can convince me one would change my life..)
I don't really wear makeup often, I'm always so intimidated by the make up counters.

I have a similar amount of vouchers to spend so I'm getting a pair of shiny Gabor shoes, a new pair of binoculars and a replacement iPad case.

BarbaraofSeville · 08/10/2019 20:09

I'd probably also 'swap spend'. You can also spend them in Waitrose, so you can just buy groceries with them and spend the £140 wherever you like or I'd get £140 worth of fancy gin.

If you don't have a kindle, I think they sell those and everyone needs a kindle paperwhite.

wonderstuff · 08/10/2019 20:12

I don't have a kindle! Excellent idea

Coverless duvets! I've had the night owl coverless duvets in my JL basket for a while but just haven't had the money to get them yet! They look so lovely and cosy, no faffing with covers and are compact enough to go in the washing machine

Ash39 · 08/10/2019 20:31

A nice winter coat from Mint Velvet

LadyAndiBella · 08/10/2019 20:42

Oh gosh, I'd spend it on kids clothes . I never treat myself

WildCherryBlossom · 08/10/2019 20:43

I got a load of JL vouchers in the prize draw for a product test on MN a couple of years ago. I put them towards an all singing & dancing sewing machine which has made me enormously happy (and also made me lots of new clothes).

Put it towards something you will enjoy long term.

BolloxtoGender · 08/10/2019 20:43

Some naice mulberry silk pillow cases.

👠 shoes!!

Chanel lipstick 💄

Grambler · 08/10/2019 20:44

At the moment my JLP basket has some weird and wonderful Christmas decorations and a coverless duvet in it. Get yourself a broccoli bauble.

WildCherryBlossom · 08/10/2019 20:45

If a kindle is something you would enjoy - get one!

Ash39 · 08/10/2019 20:46

Also is the company in trouble just now? Considering administration? I might be wrong, but in case the rumour is true, I'd use the vouchers asap

lovelyupnorth · 08/10/2019 20:49

Considering they are trying to renegotiate rents and service charges I’d be spending them soon. Just in case.

WildCherryBlossom · 08/10/2019 20:50

Meanwhile can someone explain this cover less duvet phenomenon to me. Do you just wash the whole thing regularly? Or do you go old-school with a top sheet underneath 😱

Is it like a synthetic eiderdown?

I'm pretty much addicted to my goose down duvets with crisp white cotton covers, so this is probably not for me but I'm intrigued.

wonderstuff · 08/10/2019 21:58

JL can't go bust! That's just unthinkable.

I had a voucher there. Annoying. John Lewis is generally more expensive. Treated myself with something different. Got myself a set of Bose computer speakers. YOWZERS! blowing the house down with some mega tunes.

Srictlybakeoff · 08/10/2019 22:04

I would get a cashmere jumper.
Mind you my kitchenaid mixer is 1 of the best things I ever bought . Makes baking so easy .

quitecontrary123 · 08/10/2019 22:14

Cushions or make up
